Tecno to rollout new HiOS 15 upgrade, to bring clean OS, Ella AI, and more

HiOS 15 is said to be a huge step forward in TECNO's software development, offering changes to improve the user experience.

Tecno is preparing to deploy the HiOS 15 upgrade, its latest Android-based custom operating system, to improve the smartphone experience, particularly for Indian users. The upgrade intends to make smartphones more intuitive and relevant by incorporating advanced artificial intelligence capabilities, improving performance, and reflecting local peculiarities. To create intuitive and accessible AI experiences adapted to local demands, the firm has opted to collaborate with Indian foundational models such as Sarvam AI, which is well-known for its Indian language proficiency.

HiOS 15 is said to be a huge step forward in TECNO’s software development, offering changes to improve the user experience. It has smooth animations, picture-in-picture functionality, and a revamped dropdown control panel. The update also reduces bloatware and is geared at Indian consumers. TECNO claims to have enhanced its performance and longevity by decreasing pre-installed apps by 40%, resulting in increased device speed and stability. To create an updated interface, the team included slick animations, AI-generated backgrounds, and minimalist iconography. The Animation Engine accelerated app transitions by 15%, allowing for more efficient navigation.

The MemFusion 3.0 supports multitasking with 25 programs without slowing down. The “Blank Data” function shields real information from apps, hence increasing user privacy. Memory defragmentation increased RAM and storage efficiency, and the system passed a 25-App Stress Test without dropping frames while multitasking. The Wireless Mic Mode transforms the phone into a portable microphone for events, announcements, or seizing the limelight.

Ella AI has multilingual capabilities. It speaks Hindi and will eventually support Bengali, Tamil, Gujarati, and Marathi via OTA updates. Ella provides real-time translations, transcriptions, and summaries of phone calls, including WhatsApp. When no answers are available, it delivers auto-answers and clever summaries. It eliminates background noise for clear audio, focusses on voice, and enables simple summarisation of handwritten notes. Ella also employs screen awareness to deliver contextually relevant assistance.
