Vivo Strengthens Local Component Ecosystem with Over 30 Suppliers

Chinese smartphone giant Vivo is collaborating with over 30 local component suppliers to bolster the local component ecosystem and enable exports. The announcement was made during the vivo Tech Day 2024 event in New Delhi on July 30.

The second edition of vivo Tech Day showcased the brand’s latest technological advancements, including AI video algorithms, imaging capabilities, and innovative cover glass compositions. The event also featured the launch of the Vivo India Impact Report 2024, detailing Vivo’s contributions to India’s mobile ecosystem over the past decade.

According to the report, Vivo has manufactured around 150 million smartphones in India and exported over Rs 400 crore worth of ‘Made in India’ devices. “The past decade for vivo India has been defined by impact, resilience, and commitment. From our beginnings as a newcomer, we now proudly serve over 120 million vivo smartphones used by proud Indians today,” said Geetaj Channana, head of corporate strategy at Vivo India.

The Tech Day event highlighted several of Vivo’s cutting-edge technologies. Notable among these were the imaging capabilities developed with ZEISS, such as the T* Coating for enhanced image clarity, the ZEISS APO Telephoto lens with 100x zoom, and the Multifocal Portraits feature for professional-quality portraits.

Additionally, Vivo introduced the next-generation V3+ chip with AI video algorithm support and showcased the XFold3 Pro smartphone, which utilizes advanced AI tools from Google’s Gemini on Vertex AI to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency.

The durability of Vivo’s cover glass was also demonstrated, with SCHOTT, a German company known for its innovative glass technology, conducting rigorous tests such as Set Drop Tests, Ball Drop Tests, Bending Tests, and Folding Tests to showcase its strength and resilience.

Through these efforts, Vivo continues to solidify its position in the Indian market, contributing to the local economy while offering advanced technological solutions to its users.
