WD My Passport SSD with up to 2TB capacity launched in India, now available via Amazon

The SSD will be offered in 500GB, 1TB and 2TB storage variants

Western Digital (WD), which is famous for offering portable storage options has launched a new external SSD in India. The new WD My Passport SSD is palm-sized and comes with a storage capacity of up to 2TB. The external drive is sleek and compact in size and comes with a metal body. This is powered by NVMe technology and is fit for allowing home and business users to save, access and protect the content that matters.

Speaking on the announcement, Khalid Wani, Director, Sales, Western Digital, India, said, “Innovation is meshed with the very DNA of Western Digital and we constantly strive to create reliable products that are faster, and have increased efficiency. With the new WD brand My Passport SSD, we aim to bring the unmatched experience in a sleek portable drive that helps users manage their large content libraries at a blazing fast speed.”

My Passport SSD

The new WD My Passport SSD is best for those who want storage that can be kept as well as be carried easily while offering bigger storage. Professionals in photography, editors, creators need to move and edit high-quality content nearly twice as fast and the latest generation is much faster and saves more time than the last generation. It is compatible with a laptop, desktop and can also be carried along from home to office and vice versa.

The new SSD look has been redesigned for better performance that is stylish too. It has a metal body build that not only looks stylish but offers durability. Therefore, it is comfortable to hold in hand and is small enough to be loaded in a bag or in a pocket offering portability. WD’s My Passport SSD is available in multiple colours including Gray, Blue and Gold and one can choose as per their liking.

In terms of mechanics, My Passport SSD offers a blazing fast NVMe technology with reading speeds of up to 1050MB/s and write speeds of up to 1000MB/s. It has a password enabled 256-bit AES hardware encryption for security and is shock and vibration resistant and drop resistant up to 6.5ft (1.98 metres). It has USB 3.2 Gen-2 technology with a USB-C cable and a USB-A adaptor. There is a five-year limited warranty on all three storage options. The 500GB capacity comes for Rs 6999 while the 1TB storage option is priced at Rs 12,999 and the 2TB option comes with a price tag of Rs 24,999. All the models will be available till October 30th during Amazon Great Indian festival sale. After the sale is over its will be available at Rs 8,999, Rs 15,999 and 28,999 respectively.
