WhatsApp Channels now rolling out to 150 nations including India

Users who are interested in receiving information about the platform can subscribe to the official WhatsApp Channel.

WhatsApp Channels, a feature that allows users to broadcast information to various users on the platform has been officially rolled out. Users in India and other nations are starting to receive the latest feature on their devices. The company was spotted testing the feature in April this year. Similar functionality is already supported by Instagram and Telegram

WhatsApp via its blog post said, “Today we’re excited to launch WhatsApp Channels to over 150 countries and deliver a private way to receive updates that matter to you. We’re welcoming thousands of organizations, sports teams, artists, and thought leaders that people can follow, right within WhatsApp.”

A WhatsApp Channel is a private tool where users’ phone numbers and other identifying information are never revealed after they join the channel. Users of Telegram, a competing network, can likewise join one-way broadcast channels. Instagram already supports a function like this.

Users will be able to choose channels to subscribe to that have their country automatically filtered out. Additionally, based on the total number of followers, you may browse the newest, most active, and most well-liked channels.

Emojis can be used to express thoughts and to track other people’s reactions. The followers won’t see how you respond. Also soon, admins will have access to their Updates to make changes until WhatsApp automatically erase them from its servers after 30 days. Additionally, if you forward an Update to chats or groups, a link back to the channel will be included so that people can learn more.

According to WhatsApp, your chats and channels are distinct from one another, and other followers cannot see who you choose to follow. The online chatting platform owned by Meta also safeguards the private data of both administrators and followers.

Meta is currently rolling out WhatsApp Channels to users in 150 countries, including India. Users who are interested in receiving information about the platform can subscribe to the official WhatsApp Channel.
