As technology is evolving so does people’s expectations and WhatsApp has been working to improve its app that is used by billions of people across the globe. Looking to the future Facebook-owned WhatsApp is working on new security and privacy feature. The app was spotted testing a feature called disappearing messages that will allow its user to send a message that will automatically vanish after a set period.

The disappearing messages feature was first spotted by WABetaInfo that was pushed out to the WhatsApp beta version for Android. The update carries version number v2.19.275. Currently, the instant messaging app is working on it to make it bugs free before it is released for general public usage.  The website said, “there is no issue if you have updated your WhatsApp beta version and it’s not visible for you, seen that it’s under development.” Until now there is no information when this feature will arrive for everyone but it is expected to be released in the next updates.

Disappearing Messages feature will automatically delete a chat or a particular message after a set period of time. Within the Group Info settings, the users can spot an option “Disappearing messages”. Tap the option and a list of options will open which will allow you to select message expiration time such as OFF, 5 seconds and one hour. Selecting this option will automatically fade away all the traces of a message that you want to erase automatically from your chats within a set period. Here we would like to mention that this feature was spotted in Group Info, This means the disappearing messages feature will be applicable to the Group chats and not to the private chats.

“The feature is in an alpha stage of development: it means that WhatsApp is just starting to work on it, and no ETA is available to know when the feature will be available for everyone. Be sure that WhatsApp is actively working on the feature, in order to make it perfectly work for you.”
