As per Meta, beginning January 1, 2025, older iOS and Android devices will no longer be able to use WhatsApp. Users must switch to a newer model if they are using an older handset as their primary phone.
Starting January 1, 2025, Meta will stop supporting WhatsApp on older Android phones, notably those that are over ten years old and running Android KitKat. This will affect users who still have access to WhatsApp on those devices, making it impossible for them to utilise the service.
Previous announcements by Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, indicated that it would no longer support outdated devices, including iPhones running iOS versions below 15.1.

Compared to Android users, iPhone owners have more time to get ready because they have until May 2025 to update to a newer smartphone. Knowing this date, though, is essential, so begin making plans for an upgrade.
Because older smartphones lack the physical capacity to support the app’s new features, such as AI functionality, and future features, the business is ending support for them.
If you have one of these iOS or Android smartphones and want to prevent data loss after updating, you will need to export the chats and photographs you want to save to your new device. Otherwise, after January 1, 2025, WhatsApp will delete all of your media and chat history.
