YouTube has launched its first year-end Recap for 2025, which is now accessible on both mobile and desktop platforms and offers viewers up to 12 customised cards based on their viewing patterns. This Recap shows top channels, topics, and changes in watching habits, as well as music data for YouTube Music subscribers. This new release builds on the previous Recap feature, which was exclusively accessible in the YouTube Music app, and provides a complete review of user interests and watching patterns at the end of the year.
Recap will be available for users in India this week, on both mobile and desktop, and can be accessed via the homepage or the “You” tab. YouTube Recap will emphasise users’ interests and viewing patterns based on their watch history, giving up to 12 cards with top channels, interests, and a look at viewing progression. Additionally, for music lovers, Recap will feature the Top Artists and Songs of the Year, as well as options to explore top genres, podcasts, and a breakdown of worldwide music listening via YouTube Music.

The recap highlights the iterative development process that led to its creation, which included nine rounds of feedback and over 50 concept tests before reaching the final design. The analysis of YouTube viewing behaviours showed diverse user personas, which were divided into archetypes such as the Adventurer, Skill Builder, and Creative Spirit. Notably, the Sunshiner, Wonder Seeker, and Connector personalities were the most often identified, but the Philosopher and Dreamer personas were less prevalent and more elusive.

The YouTube Recaps feature will be available in North America first, with a global release planned for later this week. Mobile users must have the YouTube app version 18.43 or above to install the update. This feature is only available to adult accounts and will be accessible until the end of the year.
