YouTube rolls out Shorts limits feature, adds zero-minute option to the timer

The latest update allows users to disable the shorts feed on the platform.

YouTube has added a feature to its mobile app that lets users turn off the Shorts stream. The Shorts feed timer now has a zero-minute setting, which lets users totally get rid of short videos from their interface. YouTube is adding this option to assist people in managing their time and personalising their watching experiences. Users will also get alerts when they hit their daily limit for Shorts feeds. This functionality is being implemented worldwide, giving users greater control over how much time they spend on the platform.

YouTube has added a new tool that lets viewers set a daily limit on how much time they may spend browsing through the Shorts feed. You can find this feature in the Settings menu. Users will get an alert when they hit their scrolling limit, which will stop them from scrolling for the rest of the day. YouTube also aims to add this scrolling limit to its parental controls later this year, so parents may set these limits on accounts they watch over.

The video streaming platform, via a blog post, said, “We’re giving users another way to manage how they spend their time on YouTube and further customise their viewing experience. Starting today, we are beginning to roll out the ability for users to set a daily limit for how long they can scroll on the Shorts feed on mobile.”

This new scrolling limit function is meant to work with the time management features that are already on the platform, such as bedtime reminders and take a break notifications. The main goal of the scrolling constraint is to get individuals to watch Shorts content more carefully while still letting them interact with it in a meaningful way. In general, this initiative suggests that YouTube is serious about encouraging users to watch videos in a healthy way.

Apart from this, last month, YouTube Premium Lite consumers in India received substantial changes to improve their watching experience. Notably, these subscribers may now play videos in the background, which is a convenient option for those who want to listen to content while doing other things.

Furthermore, the inclusion of offline downloading enables members to download videos via Wi-Fi or mobile networks. This function allows users to save content for later viewing, making it convenient for individuals who travel or visit places with inconsistent internet access. These changes seek to increase user access and enjoyment of YouTube’s products.
