YouTube is now rolling out the Super Thanks Tipping feature on its platform allowing creators to monetise their content that can be enabled through YouTube Studio. Prior to this the functionality was only available to a set number of creators but has been released to all eligible YouTube Partner Program creators. As per the company, by bringing this feature creators across 68 countries will be able to make money from their content.
Commenting on the release of the feature YouTube said, “Everyday, YouTube creators help me learn or achieve something new – from baking sourdough during the pandemic to fixing my bike just last week. Imagine if you could say a special thank you to your favourite creators or show appreciation for specific videos that have taught you something new or helped you. With Super Thanks, now you can!”
Super Thanks on YouTube gives creators another way to earn money while also helping them deepen their connections with viewers, just like Super Chat and Super Stickers. As we said earlier the tipping functionality was first introduced last year to a limited number of creators but after great feedback, YouTube is making it available to all eligible creators across 68 countries in the YouTube Partner Program to millions of monetizing creators, as well as viewers on desktop and mobile devices. Creators can use YouTube Studio to enable Super Thanks to earn a new source of revenue from their videos with just one click – no additional setup or maintenance required.
How do the YouTube Super Thanks Tipping feature work?
As per the company, fans who watch YouTube videos can buy Super Thanks for $2 to $50 (or the equivalent in their local currency) to express their gratitude and support for their favourite creators and content. They’ll see a fun, animated GIF right on the channel’s video, as well as a distinct, colourful comment highlighting their purchase, which creators can heart and like.
In addition, viewers can now personalise their Super Thanks comments, resulting in more meaningful interactions between creators and their (super) fans!
