Google’s Gemini app for Android now has a privacy option called Temporary Chats. This feature enables the AI chatbot to retain details from previous conversations, allowing users to recall them without needing to be prompted. The feature is already included in ChatGPT. Google is enabling this functionality by default, assuring that interactions between users stay private because the company does not keep or train AI models on the data. Gemini is introducing a new feature called Temporary Chat, which enables users to have quick, one-time discussions without impacting future conversations. This functionality will be available to all users starting today and gradually expanding over the next few weeks. Temporary chats will not display in recent conversations or Gemini Apps Activity, nor will they be utilised to customise your Gemini experience or train Google’s AI models. They are kept for up to 72 hours so that we can reply and process any feedback you submit. Google is offering a new setting that allows Gemini to learn from previous discussions, allowing it to recall essential details and preferences, leading to more natural and relevant interactions that resemble those with a collaborating partner. For example, if you ask Gemini to come up with a unique birthday party theme, it may recommend a celebration themed after your favourite character, replete with themed cuisine and a personalised photo booth. Gemini may also recommend books on similar subjects and great quotations for your social media postings. For example, if you utilised Gemini to come up with ideas for a YouTube channel on Japanese culture, it may recommend a video topic like “My First Time Trying…” in which you record yourself trying a new Japanese dish, traditional craft, or game. Gemini is rolling out personalised conversations in certain regions beginning today, with the 2.5 Pro model 1. The functionality will be expanded to include the 2.5 Flash model and other nations in the coming weeks. Users may enable or disable this feature by heading to the Gemini app’s Settings, selecting “Personal context,” and then “Your past chats with Gemini.” Gemini Apps Activity allows users to manage and remove conversations.
