Wordle Tips and Tricks
Select a powerful starting word: Avoid using unusual words, as they frequently do not match common letters. A good opening word has plenty of benefits.
Repeating letters: Don’t be afraid of repeating letters; they appear frequently in words. The answer may contain one or two repeated letters.
Use the Wordlebot: The NYT’s Wordlebot analyses and compares replies to itself. This challenge can assist you in enhancing your guessing skills and highlighting areas for development.
If you read Gadget Bridge regularly, you already know the front end of tech moves fast: new phones, smarter earbuds, “AI everything,” faster chips, brighter screens.
But there’s a quieter truth underneath all of it: the gadget experience you feel—instant photo backups, low-latency video calls, map reroutes in traffic, “find my device,” voice assistants—depends on hardware you rarely see. Data centres.
And data centres don’t stay current by magic. They get upgraded, reconfigured, relocated, and sometimes fully shut down. That’s where a topic most gadget fans never think about becomes surprisingly important: how a data centre gets decommissioned.
Because when a facility is retired (or even just a large server room is being cleared), the stakes aren’t abstract. If it’s handled casually, it can create the kind of risks consumers care about most: data exposure, credential leaks, and sloppy disposal of sensitive hardware. If it’s handled professionally, it can be boring in the best way—secure, documented, and often more sustainable than people assume.
This post connects the dots between the gadgets in your pocket and the industrial-scale process that helps keep your digital life safe when infrastructure ages out.

Why Data Centre “Retirements” Are Happening More Often
A decade ago, many companies built big on-prem server rooms and kept them running forever. Now, the math has changed.
Modern workloads are heavier (think 4K streaming, real-time collaboration, AI inference, always-on backups) and expectations are stricter (faster performance, higher uptime, better privacy). At the same time, organisations are constantly making “where should this live?” decisions—cloud, colocation, new on-prem, hybrid.
That produces a predictable outcome: older facilities and gear get phased out, sometimes suddenly. Lease expirations, power cost changes, building repurposes, M&A, consolidation—there are lots of non-technical reasons a data centre gets shut down.
And here’s the consumer-facing punchline: a lot of your personal data is stored, cached, processed, or logged somewhere along that chain. Even if you’re careful with your phone, you can’t personally control how every backend system is retired. You can only hope the organisations you rely on treat decommissioning like a security project—not a junk removal job.
The Part Most People Miss: “Unplugging” Isn’t the Risky Step
When people imagine shutting down a data centre, they picture the dramatic moment: power goes off, lights dim, doors close.
In reality, that moment is usually the least dangerous part.
The risky part is everything that happens before and after:
Drives are being removed from servers
Storage arrays are being sold, recycled, or transported
Network devices leaving with configs still intact
Backup systems that hold years of historical data
Racks, cable trays, PDUs, UPS systems, and cooling equipment are being dismantled under time pressure
If the team is rushed, under-resourced, or treating assets as “scrap,” you can end up with weak documentation and weak controls—the exact conditions that lead to mistakes.
This is why decommissioning is increasingly its own speciality. It sits at the intersection of security, facilities, compliance, and asset recovery.
What “Doing It Right” Looks Like (In Plain English)
A safe decommission has a few non-negotiables. Not because it’s fancy—but because it’s defensible.
1) Knowing what’s still “alive”
Even mature organisations get surprised by hidden dependencies. A “retired” rack might still host a monitoring system. A legacy server might still handle a weird authentication flow for an older app. A backup target might still receive nightly jobs.
The best teams treat early decommissioning like an investigation: What talks to what? What breaks if this disappears? They don’t assume documentation is perfect; they validate it.
2) Treating storage like evidence
If there’s one principle that matters most, it’s this:
Assume every drive has sensitive data until proven otherwise.
Not “probably.” Not “I think it was wiped.” Proven. That means tying sanitisation proof to device serial numbers, maintaining logs, and keeping a clear chain of custody if anything leaves the facility.
Because if there’s ever a question—internally, with customers, or with auditors—“trust us” isn’t enough.
3) Controlling the physical flow
Decommissioning is where IT meets logistics. Hardware gets staged, moved, palletised, and transferred. If you don’t separate sanitised from unsanitized, or you let too many people handle equipment without oversight, confusion creeps in fast.
Simple controls matter more than complicated ones: restricted access, clear tagging, and documented handoffs.
4) Avoiding the “scrap trap”
Here’s the irony: teams that treat a decommission like a pure expense often create more risk (because they rush), and they also lose money (because valuable assets get lumped into recycling).
Electrical and facility-grade equipment—generators, UPS systems, switchgear—can carry meaningful value depending on condition and market demand. Recovering value can fund the project and reduce waste, but only if the process is designed for it.
The “Gadget Angle” That Makes This Worth Caring About
Okay—so why should a Gadget Bridge reader care about how a server room gets dismantled?
Because the same privacy and security habits you practice on your devices—password managers, two-factor authentication, encrypted backups—can be undermined by sloppy backend retirement.
Here are the consumer-level consequences of bad decommissioning:
Residual data exposure: improperly sanitised drives can still contain user data, logs, or backups.
Credential leakage: network device configs or management consoles can retain credentials, keys, or IP maps.
Supply-chain risk: equipment resold without proper controls can become a blueprint of internal architecture.
Environmental damage: irresponsible disposal (especially batteries and cooling-related materials) adds real harm.
A decommission isn’t just an IT event. It’s part of how digital trust gets maintained over time.
Where a Specialist Like Iron Flag Power Systems Fits In
Some companies do everything in-house. Many don’t—and honestly, many shouldn’t.
On the vendor side, some firms focus specifically on turning decommissioning into a controlled, recover-value-first operation. Iron Flag Power Systems positions itself around electrical infrastructure recovery—including data center decommissioning, generator recovery, and targeted demolition/asset recovery.
What’s useful about that framing is that it matches what decommissioning actually is in the real world:
It’s not only servers and drives
It’s power and backup systems (generators, UPS systems, batteries, switchgear)
It’s cooling and airflow equipment (CRAC units, associated systems)
It’s racks, cabling, trays, and physical infrastructure
Sometimes it includes hazardous materials handling and proper disposal pathways
If you’re an IT leader or property manager, a big part of the value here is coordination: you want a team that can remove and recover equipment while respecting the security and facility realities of the space—not a general demo crew improvising as they go.
If you want a concise, relevant anchor text for your client link that doesn’t feel forced on a consumer-tech site, use:
It reads naturally, it’s short, and it matches how the service is described publicly.
The Best Decomm Projects Feel… Boring
If you’ve ever done a messy phone migration—half your photos duplicated, apps logged out, random two-factor issues—you know the feeling of “this should have been smoother.”
Now scale that up to thousands of devices, layered dependencies, and hardware that might contain years of sensitive information.
The best decommissioning projects feel boring because they’re disciplined:
dependencies are verified before anything is pulled,
Storage is sanitised with evidence.
equipment flow is controlled,
The facility is returned in a planned sequence,
And value recovery isn’t an afterthought—it’s built into the plan.
That “boring” outcome is what protects users on the other end of the chain. It keeps the cloud clean. It reduces surprise exposure. It lowers e-waste. And it’s part of why modern gadgets can keep accelerating without dragging yesterday’s infrastructure risks into tomorrow.

Google and its allies were able to take down the IPIDEA proxy network, which was one of the biggest proxy networks used for cyberattacks. The Google Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) was in charge of this operation. Bad actors were able to hide where their illicit activities were coming from by discreetly routing traffic through hacked Android devices and Windows PCs on the network.Google has reported the disruption of the IPIDEA proxy network, one of the world’s largest residential proxy networks. Residential proxy networks work by routing Internet traffic through hijacked consumer devices, concealing the true origin of online activities. These unethical services use legal residential IP addresses rather than commercial servers. This disruption, coordinated by the Google Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) alongside various teams, involved three primary actions: taking legal measures to shut down domains controlling devices and proxy traffic; disseminating technical intelligence about IPIDEA SDKs and proxy software to platform providers, law enforcement, and research organisations to enhance ecosystem awareness and enforcement; and reinforcing protections for Android users through Google Play Protect. These activities are thought to considerably impede IPIDEA’s operations, lowering the number of devices available for proxy use by millions and perhaps damaging related organisations. Also Read:iPhone Air price in India dropped significantly: check out the dealAccording to the blog post, residential proxy networks allow traffic to be routed through ISP-owned IP addresses, which attackers use to hide nefarious activity. These networks require control over millions of residential IP addresses, which are frequently obtained by running proxy software on consumer devices—sometimes via trojanised apps. Google Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) research emphasises the misuse of these proxies, particularly by bad actors linked with botnets such as BadBox2.0 and IPIDEA, which has an impact on multiple organisations around the world. The risk extends to users whose devices serve as exit nodes, exposing them to hacking and vulnerabilities when malicious traffic is routed via them. GTIG’s findings demonstrate intricate linkages amongst proxy networks, confounding quantification, attribution, and misuse prevention. An analysis of residential proxy networks revealed that many well-known proxy and VPN brands, such as 360 Proxy, 922 Proxy, ABC Proxy, Cherry Proxy, Door VPN, Galleon VPN, IP 2 World, Ipidea, Luna Proxy, PIA S5 Proxy, PY Proxy, Radish VPN, and Tab Proxy, are not independently operated but are controlled by the same entities behind IPIDEA. Additionally, these operators administer domains connected with Software Development Kits (SDKs) designed specifically for residential proxies. These SDKs are intended to be integrated into existing programmes rather than used as separate applications. These SDKs are marketed as developer monetisation solutions and are compatible with Android, Windows, iOS, and WebOS. Developers who incorporate these SDKs into their apps are compensated by IPIDEA on a per-download basis. When you embed an SDK in an application, it turns the device into an exit node for a proxy network while still providing the app’s primary functionality. These SDKs are critical for home proxy networks since they provide the devices required for functioning. However, many proxy providers’ promises of ethical sourcing of IP addresses are frequently false; investigations revealed that some dangerous applications did not notify users of their presence in the IPIDEA proxy network. Additionally, researchers discovered unauthorised Android smartphones with disguised residential proxy payloads. The IPIDEA network is linked to SDKs such as Castar, Earn, Hex, and Packet. Also Read:Samsung Galaxy F70e 5G India launch date announced; key specs revealed
Action Taken
Google has taken substantial steps to remove IPIDEA’s infrastructure, including bringing legal action against C2 domains and marketing platforms utilised by bad actors, thereby protecting consumer devices. They used Android platform regulations to prevent applications from using IPIDEA SDKs and disrupted IPIDEA’s activities through agreements with companies such as Spur, Lumen’s Black Lotus Labs, and Cloudflare. The company emphasises the growing risks in the home proxy market, advising users to be wary of applications that promise to share spare bandwidth, as this frequently leads to security issues. Recommendations include using reliable app shops and purchasing devices from recognised manufacturers. Google advocates for improved proxy provider responsibility and industry collaboration in combating illicit networks, as well as disclosing indicators of compromise to aid detection efforts.
The Pro model in Redmi’s Pad 2 series landed in India earlier this month, four months after its global launch. Last year, we reviewed the base model in the lineup and found it to be a great budget tablet for media consumption. Now, we turn our attention to the Pro model, which is equipped with a more powerful chipset, a bigger display, and sharper cameras. The midrange tablet comes in WiFi (Rs 24,999) and cellular (Rs 27,999) avatars. We’ve been using the latter variant for the last week for media streaming, video calling, gaming, and other routine tasks. Redmi Pad 2 Pro 5G Review: Design and Display
First, let’s take a look at what you get inside the Redmi Pad 2 Pro’s retail box:
Tablet
33W power adapter
USB-A to USB-C cable
Quick start guide
The Pad 2 Pro gets a few cosmetic tweaks over its previous-generation (our review here) counterpart. The individual cutouts for the main camera and LED flash are now a part of a 2-step camera island. Redmi has stuck with the dual-tone colour scheme for the aluminium back panel, but the darker upper section now has a ridged texture. The lower section retains its matte finish. The ‘REDMI’ lettering can be found on the bottom left side. The upper edge of the aluminium frame houses the volume rocker, two microphones, and SIM + SD card tray. The side button is mounted on the left edge, accompanied by two of the speakers that form a part of the quad-speaker setup on this tablet. The 3.5mm audio jack and USB-C port are sandwiched between the two speakers on the right edge of the frame. The bottom edge has been left empty. The 12.1-inch IPS LCD panel is surrounded on all sides by thick bezels. We don’t mind this on tablets with big displays, as the bezels keep accidental touches at bay. The upper bezel houses the 8MP front-facing camera. The display has a 120Hz refresh rate and can reach 600 nits in High Brightness Mode. It is able to maintain legibility outdoors. The tablet does not have a fingerprint scanner. Your only unlocking options are password/PIN/pattern and face unlock. We used the Redmi Pad 2 Pro as our primary media streaming device during the review period. It proved to be a great tablet for entertainment needs – its large display producing a thoroughly enjoyable viewing experience. The visuals were replete with vivid colours. The 2.5K panel relays excellent details while playing HD content. The output from the quad-speaker setup is loud enough to fill a small room. The audio quality is quite rich. There is no boxiness to be heard. There are 3 official accessories available with the Redmi Pad 2 Pro: Cover (Rs 1,499), Keyboard (Rs 3,999), and Smart Pen (Rs 3,999). We used the latter two to maximise our experience. Since there are no magnetic connectors on the tablet, the keyboard relies on a Bluetooth connection. It has its own charging port and power switch. The key caps have a nice finish and offer decent travel. The typing experience is quite satisfying. The case is fixed to one position, with no incline options. It comes with a detachable smart pen holder. However, it does not have an integrated trackpad, which, in our books, is a big miss. The smart pen also uses Bluetooth to connect with the tablet. We did not come across any latency issues while using this stylus to take notes and draw rough sketches. However, the display did register touches from the resting palm. It didn’t amount to a big issue, but its presence was noticeable. Having said that, we would recommend this accessory to students and budding artists.
Redmi Pro 2 5G Review: Performance and Cameras
The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC lies at the heart of the Redmi Pad 2 Pro. The 5G tablet is equipped with an 8GB (LPDDR4X) RAM and comes in 2 storage (UFS 2.2) variants:
128GB: Rs 27,999
256GB: Rs 29,999
We ran a couple of benchmark tests on this tablet. Here’s how it performed.
The tablet puts up a fine display in everyday use. It is easily able to handle routine tasks like video calling, instant messaging, web browsing, and media streaming. Drafting emails and articles is a breeze with the keyboard case. The apps take fractionally longer to load since the UFS 2.2 configuration isn’t the fastest one out there. Multi-tasking on this device is a breeze with its LPDDR4X RAM. If your primary needs are media consumption and web browsing, this tablet has enough power to fit your usage. We played Call of Duty Mobile and BGMI on this tablet, sticking to medium graphics and a 60fps frame rate. While the graphics weren’t as punchy as they’d be on an AMOLED display, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro managed to deliver a pleasant gaming experience. There weren’t any pesky frame drops to be seen. The back panel started warming up after 20 minutes of gaming, but it did not create any throttling issues. The Android 15-based HyperOS 2 handled the software duties on this tablet. Xiaomi has promised 5 major OS upgrades and 6 years of security patches, which is excellent coverage for a tablet in this price range. HyperOS 2 is well-optimised for the larger form factor, offering useful features like split-screen setup and floating windows for apps. You can browse Reddit on one pane while watching live football on the other. We highly recommend getting a folio case to maximise your viewing experience. The Redmi Pad 2 Pro comes with basic AI features for photo-editing. You can use the native image editor to remove objects and highlights from your pictures. On top of that, the device runs Google’s Gemini Assistant and Circle to Search out of the box. If you own a Xiaomi/Redmi smartphone, you get access to internconnecitivty features for seamless sharing. The Pad 2 Pro packs a larger battery than its predecessor. The 12,000mAh battery pack can last up to 2 days on a full charge. The overnight battery drain is very minimal. If you intend to keep this tablet in your house as an entertainment device, this battery pack can hold enough juice to meet your demands. The 33W power adapter provided in the box takes 2 hours to fully charge the tablet. The 13MP rear camera takes fine pictures in outdoor daylight conditions. The images are clear and vibrant. While they are not as sharp and detailed as pictures taken with a midrange smartphone, they do the job of taking the odd shot when you don’t have your phone on you. In limited lighting conditions, the Night Mode is able to illuminate the shots, but a fair bit of noise manages to creep into the images. The front-facing 8MP camera takes good selfies in natural and artificial lighting. The images are on the softer side, but they showcase good colours. The camera does a good job on video calls and conferences. The two cameras on this tablet are capable of recording 1,080p and 720p videos at 30fps.Read Also: Samsung Galaxy F70e 5G India launch date announced; key specs revealed
Verdict
The Redmi Pad 2 Pro ticks all the essential boxes for a midrange tablet. Its large 12.1-inch display met our entertainment needs, offering a fine viewing experience across all the major OTT apps. We were very impressed by the rich audio output produced by the quad-speaker setup. Another thing we like about this tablet is that it still offers a 3.5mm jack to plug in your headphones. On top of that, you get the old-school hybrid SIM tray that supports microSD cards with a storage capacity of up to 1TB.When it comes to performance, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset doesn’t leave you hanging for power. It goes through everyday tasks like a hot knife through butter. Its gaming performance doesn’t disappoint either. To tie things up, the 12,000mAh battery pack offers enough juice to last 2 days.Buy on Mi.com for Rs 27,999

Capabilities
Project Genie is a new prototype web app that uses Genie 3, Nano Banana Pro, and Gemini to let users interact directly with immersive experiences based on a world model.Users can make and change surroundings with the World sketching tool by typing in text and using images that are either created or uploaded. This involves making your own characters and choosing how to explore, such as walking, flying, or driving. When you connect with Nano Banana Pro, this process improves because you can see and change things in real time to enhance both the visual landscape and the user’s perspective, whether in first- or third-person.Also Read:Nu Republic partners with Blinkit to offer a limited-edition Pop Love Wireless Speaker for Valentine’s DayThe application makes the world a dynamic place to explore, with paths that change in real time as users interact with it. Limitations
The system’s current constraints include a limited action space, which means that agents can only do a small number of things, even when there are many world events that could urge them to do so. The interaction and simulation of several autonomous agents constitute a continuing research challenge. Also, Genie 3 can’t fully imitate real-world locations, and clear text rendering only works in the world description context. The model also only works for short-duration interactions, which usually last a few minutes.
Pricing and Availability
In the United States, Google AI Ultra customers can use Project Genie, which is an interactive feature that is only available to anyone over the age of 18. The Ultra subscription package costs $249.99 a month in the U.S., which is about Rs 22,980. It aspires for technological self-reliance and better strategic digital infrastructure, with a focus on semiconductors, data centres, AI tools, and skill development, as well as long-term incentives to entice global tech investment in India. The shift from India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 1.0 to 2.0 aims to strengthen India’s position in the semiconductor industry by moving up the value chain. The major goal is to transition from just assembling imported components to producing and holding intellectual property (IP) specific to India. This strategic move intends to reduce the high import costs associated with semiconductors while also increasing India’s impact in the global technology setting, especially in light of ongoing technical competitions. The government has set aside Rs 1,000 crore for the fiscal year 2026-27 to help with this transition. The funds would go toward industry-led research and the building of training institutes. The money will help with the design and production of Indian IP and the making of semiconductor equipment, which are very important for making chips. India wants to make the semiconductor ecosystem more self-sufficient and strong by putting money into these areas. This would help the country compete better in the global market. The National Quantum Mission has been given an additional Rs 900 crore in funding, showing that India is serious about moving forward with quantum technology projects. The SHAKTI program would also benefit the biopharmaceutical industry. It will spend Rs 10,000 crore over five years to improve India’s ability to make biologics and biosimilars. Also, setting up Rare Earth Corridors in places like Odisha and Tamil Nadu is an intelligent approach to protect the supply chains for important minerals that are needed to make electric vehicle (EV) batteries and smartphones. Also Read:Nu Republic partners with Blinkit to offer a limited-edition Pop Love Wireless Speaker for Valentine’s DayThe Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) has gotten a big upgrade, with the budget going from Rs 22,919 crore to Rs 40,000 crore. The primary objective of this significant financial boost is to leverage twice the projected investment commitments from 2025. This will help add more value to electronics production in the area. The Indian government has offered a full tax break for international companies that use Indian data centres to provide worldwide cloud services. This is part of an effort to make India a major player in the global AI and cloud infrastructure market. This tax break will last until 2047, but only if services are provided to Indian customers through resellers in India. This strategic move is part of larger national AI missions, such as the Bharat-VISTAAR program, which is an example of continuous funding efforts to use AI technologies in important areas like agriculture and healthcare. The reason for the 2047 deadline is in keeping with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, which lays out an ambitious plan for the country’s growth over the next 20 years. This plan guarantees policy consistency that is frequently lacking from tax systems around the world. In addition, this action is considered a tactical move to gain more control over data management. The government wants to keep control of the economy and make sure that foreign cloud services use Indian resellers. This will protect the country’s data security and economic interests while also bringing in global investment in its digital infrastructure.India is making big changes to its policies to become a global centre for artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud infrastructure. For example, global businesses that use Indian data centres to deliver cloud services to Indian clients would not have to pay taxes on those services until 2047. The goal of this project is to bring in foreign investors and help the growth of AI technologies in the country. At the same time, the government is still committed to national AI missions, with an emphasis on using AI in different areas, including agriculture and healthcare. One program that stands out is Bharat-VISTAAR, which aims to move AI applications from academic settings to real-world use. Bharat-VISTAAR wants to give farmers a “digital consultant” that makes it easier for them to access complicated agricultural research and useful information through an AI tool that can speak multiple languages. Also Read:Samsung Galaxy F70 India Series India launch confirmedAI is also being used in logistics to make things safer and more efficient. For example, non-intrusive AI scanning devices at ports speed up trade and improve national security. This comprehensive strategy demonstrates India’s significant investment in AI as a transformative force for both the economy and security. The budget acknowledges that creating digital content is becoming more and more significant, especially in the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) sector. One of the main goals is to set up Content Creator Labs in partnership with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies in Mumbai. The plan is to establish these labs in 15,000 secondary schools and 500 institutions. This program aims to help create a trained workforce that can fill the two million jobs that are expected to be available in this field by 2030. These facilities will help create jobs and support the expansion of the AVGC industry.
