WWDC 2025: Here is what to expect from today’s Apple Developers Conference

The event will start at 10:30 p.m. IST on June 9.

At the upcoming WWDC 2025 keynote event today, Apple will be announcing the operating system updates that will be available for its devices. A new interface and updated software interfaces for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Watch are among the design and productivity enhancements for Apple’s operating systems that will be on display at the Developers Conference. Apple will talk about its AI strategy, which includes letting other developers utilise its language models.

At WWDC 2025, a five-day developer conference, Apple is expected to make important software-related announcements today. In India, the WWDC 2025 event will start at 10:30 p.m. IST or 10 a.m. PT. The company’s YouTube channel will broadcast the event, while the Apple Developer app, website, and Apple TV app will all offer online access to the keynote and any follow-up sessions.

At WWDC25, the following AI and software-related upgrades are anticipated to be released:

Usually, the WWDC25 event includes announcements for many devices, including the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and macOS. The event last year concentrated on AI elements, dubbed Apple Intelligence, which were introduced gradually.

Mark Gurman claims that as part of a complete redesign, Apple will release iOS 26, iPadOS 26, tvOS 26, visionOS 26, macOS 26, and watchOS 26 in 2026. The internal names of the operating systems will be Nepali, Luck, Charisma, Discovery, and Cheer, in that order. The company’s software branding will also shift from version numbers to a year-based scheme as a result of the switch. The year when the new operating systems were released will be the basis for their names.

The firm is likely to launch its venerable Preview app for iPadOS and iOS for the first time on macOS.

A new interface called Solarium, built on visionOS, will be unveiled by Apple for all of its operating systems, including CarPlay. Digital glass, more light and transparency, and revamped app buttons and icons are all components of the new interface. The new interface is reflected in the revamped widgets for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Three iOS and iPadOS applications—the Phone, Safari, and Camera apps—are scheduled for major updates, but the core programs won’t be changed beyond their designs. Safari will get a more transparent address bar, Camera will prioritise simplicity, and the Phone app will merge voicemails, recent calls, and favourite contacts into a single, scrollable pane.

With the introduction of iPad improvements for office work and the potential for third-party developers to utilise its extensive language models, Apple is expected to introduce its Apple Intelligence AI plan.

It is anticipated that Apple will launch new AI capabilities, such as an enhanced Shortcuts app, a system-wide push into translation, and the availability of its foundation models. A new version of Xcode that uses third-party Language Models (LLMs) for code completion is also being developed by the business.

In addition, the company is working on a redesigned Calendar app, a rescheduled Siri update, and a battery optimisation option for iPhones. Additionally, Apple is working on a complete redesign of its Health app that is connected to Mulberry, an AI doctor-based service.
