The Alpha 1 II camera has a 50.1 MP Exmor RS stacked CMOS sensor and an advanced BIONZ XR image processing engine, which produces high-resolution photographs with a broad dynamic range. Even in APS-C crop mode, it captures around 21 effective MP. The camera also has a cutting-edge AI processing unit that enables Real-time Recognition AF for stills and videos. This technology focuses on subjects such as human position estimation and accurate tracking of animals, birds, insects, and automobiles. The camera also adds the “Auto” option, which allows it to recognise the subject target without defining a subject mode.
The camera features more accurate real-time tracking at 30 frames per second, pre-capture, and continuous shooting speed increase functionalities. It can detect complicated movements up to 120 times per second and provides blackout-free high-speed continuous shooting. The camera also has a Pre-Capture mode, which allows photographs to be taken up to one second before the shutter button is pushed. The Continuous Shooting Speed Boost function allows you to temporarily change the burst shooting speed. The camera can also capture films in 8K 30p and 4K 120p resolution for incredible realism. It can trim and edit 4K movies from 8K source footage, as well as record in XAVC HS, S, or S-I formats in full-frame or Super 35 mm oversampled from 5.8K.

The Alpha 1 II camera provides high-performance speed and better image stabilisation, with up to 8.5-step central and 7.0-step peripheral compensation. It has an anti-distortion shutter for decreased distortion and low noise performance at mid- to high sensitivity, resulting in clean backgrounds and less noise during indoor sports. The camera also boasts improved optical image stabilisation of up to 8.5 stops (centre) and 7.0 stops (periphery) for still shots, as well as a Dynamic Active Mode for video recording.
The 3.2-type LCD monitor with a 4-axis multi-angle may be adjusted to any angle, and the second-generation camera body includes ergonomic upgrades such as a new deep-type padded eyepiece cup for improved viewing support. The camera comes with a normal eyepiece, which may be replaced with a deep pad option based on user preferences.
