Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE with Exynos chipset launched

The specifications of the clamshell-style foldable phones are almost identical.

Today at Galaxy Unpacked 2025, Samsung unveiled not one but two flip phones- Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Both the clamshell design phones feature a Super AMOLED FlexWindow. The former one comes equipped with the Exynos 2500 SoC, while the latter includes last year’s Exynos 2400 chip.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 comes with (outer screen) 4.1-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow with 1048 x 948 pixels of resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate support. It features a 6.9-inch FHD+ main Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with 2520 x 1080 pixels of resolution. The display supports 120Hz Adaptive refresh rate (1~120Hz), 2,600 nits of peak brightness and has an aspect ratio of 21:9. The device measures 75.2 x 85.5 x 13.7mm (folded) and 75.2 x 166.7 x 6.5mm (unfolded). It weighs about 188g and includes an IP48 rating. The Armor FlexHinge is a thinner, restructured hinge with high-strength materials for smoother folds and long-lasting durability, while the Armor Aluminum Frame offers a tough exterior for resilience, with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protecting the cover and back.

The clamshell-style foldable phone runs on One UI 8 skinned over Android 16 out of the box. The device is powered by Exynos 2500 SoC with up to 12GB RAM and up to 512GB internal storage option. Samsung DeX is now integrated into the Galaxy Z Flip7, allowing it to transform into a convenient workstation, providing PC-like tools for enhanced multitasking when opened and connected to a screen.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is now integrated with enhanced FlexWindow and Galaxy AI. It allows users to search with their voice, get answers, and take action directly on the cover screen. Powered by One UI 8 and Android 16, it offers multimodal AI experiences optimised for the Flip’s iconic design. The device offers a one-handed experience, enhancing productivity and personalisation options. The FlexWindow is a dynamic extension of a user’s personality, allowing for curated wallpaper suggestions, emoji, colour, and widget customisation. Gemini Live is now available directly on the FlexWindow, allowing users to search for information with their voice and complete tasks hands-free. This personal assistant is like having a personal assistant on the cover screen.

Gemini Live now offers real-time help through camera sharing, allowing users to ask questions and make outfit choices. The Now Bar shows app activity, podcast progress, and alerts on the cover screen, and is integrated with third-party apps. The FlexWindow allows users to check rideshare ETAs, music, and football scores. Now Brief provides personalised daily updates, music recommendations, and health data. The FlexWindow’s clock adapts to match a user’s wallpaper.

The handset sports a 4,300mAh battery that is claimed to deliver up to 31 hours of video play time on a single charge.

For the photos and videos, the Galaxy Z Flip7 features a dual rear camera setup that includes a 12MP Ultra-Wide Camera (F2.2, Pixel size: 1.12μm, FOV: 123˚) and a 50MP Wide-angle Camera (Dual Pixel AF, OIS, F1.8, Pixel size: 1.0μm, FOV: 85˚). For selfies, it packs a 10MP front-facing camera (F2.2, Pixel size: 1.12μm, FOV: 85˚).

The Galaxy Z Flip7 camera offers enhanced nightography for vivid photos in low-light environments, 10-bit HDR for richer colour and contrast, and real-time filters for instant previews. It also features Zoom Slider for easy zooming in and out, Dual Preview for live composition viewing, and Portrait Studio for eye-catching pet moments in Photo Assist.

The specifications of both the clamshell-style foldable phones are almost identical. However, the Fan Edition flip phone features a smaller 6.7-inch FHD+ main Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with 2640×1080 (22:9) and 120Hz Adaptive refresh rate (1~120Hz). It has a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED cover screen with 720 x 748 pixels of resolution. Instead of an Exynos 2500 processor, the company has integrated Exynos 2400 from the previous generation. The device will be available with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The camera specs on this phone are similar to Flip 7.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is backed by a smaller 4,000mAh (typical) dual battery.
