Google wants to give consumers greater control over their search experience by letting them choose which sites they want to see more of, such as their favourite websites and local media providers. Google is debuting the Preferred Sources feature in the United States and India, which allows users to select particular sites to appear more frequently in Google Search’s Top Stories space.

Preferred Sources is now accessible in the United States and India, allowing users to select their preferred sources and remain up to date on the most recent content from their favourite websites. The functionality will be widely available in the next few days. When these sites produce new and relevant material for their search, users will see more of their stories prominently highlighted in Top Stories. Originally a Labs feature, the functionality is now graduating from Search Labs beta in the United States and India in English.

Selecting sources from Top Stories or a separate “From your sources” space on the search results page enhances their frequency. Users can change their selections at any moment and choose as many sources as they like. According to the firm, more than half of consumers select four or more sources. If you’ve already signed up in Labs, your preferences will be applied immediately, and you’ll see more sites in Top Stories.
