Google integrates Gemini Nano Banana, bring new editing tools to Gemini

The Gemini 2.5 Flash Image is now accessible via the Gemini app, AI Studio, and API. Google says that this is its finest image-generating and editing AI model to date.

Google has launched the Gemini Nano Banana, a new AI image model that improves character consistency. The model, formally called as Gemini 2.5 Flash image, has received accolades for its high-quality picture editing and consistent character. The model was implemented in stealth mode and quickly gained popularity on the crowdsourced AI model ranking platform LMArena, weeks before its public debut.

The company via blog post said, “Today in the Gemini app, we’re unveiling a new image editing model from Google DeepMind. People have been going bananas over it already in early previews — it’s the top-rated image editing model in the world. Now, we’re excited to share that it’s integrated into the Gemini app so you have more control than ever to create the perfect picture.”

Beginning today, the Gemini app has improved image editing features, including visible watermarks and an invisible SynthID digital watermark to clearly designate AI-generated photos.

The new image editing model, Gemini Nano Banana, has been included in the Gemini app, giving users greater power over generating perfect pictures. The update focuses on retaining a character’s resemblance from one photograph to the next, ensuring that photos of friends, family, and pets seem just like them. Gemini allows users to make unique images, blend photos to position themselves in a picture with their pet, change the background of a room to try new wallpaper, and place themselves anywhere in the globe. Users may then upload the modified picture back into Gemini to transform the fresh snapshot into a funny video. The update aims to make images of friends, family, and pets more consistent and accurate.

Gemini Nano Banana has an updated image editing tool that enables users to change their appearance in a variety of settings. Users can upload a photo of a human or pet, and the model will preserve their appearance in each shot. Users may also try out alternative costumes or professions, or even envision themselves in another decade.

Users can also upload various images and mix them to create a new story, such as blending your photo with one of your dogs to make a great portrait of you both on the basketball court.

Gemini’s multi-turn editing technique, on the other hand, enables continuous editing of images, such as adding furniture, a bookshelf, or a coffee table to change particular areas of an image while retaining the rest.

Mix up your designs by applying the style of one picture to another, such as utilising the colour and texture of flower petals on rainboots or the pattern of butterfly wings on a garment.
