Samsung begins teasing a new tri-folding device, W26 likely to launch

The phone's availability in its usual red or black hues is unknown, but the image hints that the W26 will have a gold-colored frame.

Samsung has begun to provide teasers for the Samsung W26, a high-end foldable phone that will launch on October 11. This device has a unique gold frame and is a special version of the Z Fold7 that was previously released. Following the introduction of three models a few months earlier, Samsung has announced intentions to launch at least two more foldable phones as part of its ongoing development in the market. One of these is a tri-folding model, and the W26 is designed especially for the cutthroat Chinese market with the goal of competing with other well-known companies like Xiaomi and Huawei.

Samsung plans to debut a new foldable device, called the W26, during an event on October 11, with an initial release limited to the Chinese market. According to this announcement, which comes after a promotional teaser, the W26 will probably improve on the functionality and design of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, much like its predecessors the W24 and W25 did. The gadget exemplifies Samsung’s ongoing innovation in the foldable smartphone category. The phone is believed to share internal hardware with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, including a Snapdragon 8 Elite CPU.

According to reports, Samsung intends to make its premiere at the next Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit with its new tri-folding phone. This reveal is anticipated to take place during an art show that will coincide with the summit, which is scheduled to take place from October 21 to November 1 in Gyeongju, South Korea.

The basic design of the next phone may be seen in the teaser image. Red and black will probably be the color options. There is doubt over whether the red or black color options will be available, even though comprehensive information and a hands-on preview of the gadget are still waiting. Yet, the teaser image makes it clear that the W26 will, in fact, have an elegant gold frame like its predecessors, giving the series a new perspective.

It is expected that the Samsung W26 would include an 8-inch foldable OLED display in addition to a 6.5-inch OLED cover screen. It is anticipated to include an IP48 grade for water and dust protection, a fingerprint sensor on the side, and an Enhanced Armor Aluminum frame for increased durability.

The handset is said to feature the cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and have internal hardware specs similar to those of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. With configurations providing up to 16GB of RAM and an impressive storage capacity of up to 1TB, users can anticipate strong performance. According to rumors, the phone would come with One UI 8.0 at launch and be supported for seven generations of Android OS upgrades, guaranteeing consumers durability and feature improvements.

In addition to a triple back camera setup—a 200MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS—the gadget is probably going to have two 10MP selfie cameras.

Regarding connectivity and audio, the W26 could have dual speakers, 5G compatibility, enhanced Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, Ultra Wideband (UWB), NFC, and a USB 3.2 Type-C connector allowing a variety of connectivity options. Although the exact specifications of the battery are yet unknown, it is anticipated to have 15W wireless charging and 25W fast wired charging, possibly mirroring the 4,400mAh battery seen in the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
