Samsung’s Exynos 2600 2nm Node chipset announced, to power the Galaxy S26 series

The latest chipset claimed to improve AI performance by 113 per cent.

Samsung has introduced the Exynos 2600, marking the world’s first mobile chipset to utilise the 2 nm GAA (Gate-All-Around) process. With its unique octa-core CPU, the Exynos 2600 enhances AI performance and gaming experiences. It has the new Xclipse 960 GPU, which supports ray tracing, and it uses Heat Pass Block technology to make the system more energy-efficient. The Galaxy S26 series is expected to come out with the chipset early next year.

The Exynos 2600 improves performance by changing the core structure. It replaces small cores with middle cores, which makes it more efficient. The Arm v9.3 architecture improves on-CPU machine learning performance even more. SME2 support makes AI computation more efficient and lowers latency. This makes the CPU work 39% faster and use less power.

The company says that the Exynos chipset greatly improves AI performance, with a 113% increase in generative AI capabilities thanks to its advanced NPU. This allows for larger on-device AI models, which makes them more efficient by using less power and time. This means that tasks like image editing and AI assistant functions can be done faster. It also has better privacy, thanks to virtualisation security and hardware-backed hybrid post-quantum cryptography. This is a first for mobile SoCs, ensuring long-lasting security.

The Exynos Xclipse 960 GPU doubles processing performance over its predecessor and improves ray tracing capabilities by up to 50%. The 2600 uses the Exynos Neural Super Sampling (ENSS) technology for AI-driven resolution upscaling and frame creation, providing a three-times smoother gaming experience while optimising battery efficiency. It also has an AI-based Visual Perception System (VPS) for advanced mobile photography, which enables real-time element recognition while reducing battery consumption by 50%. Additional enhancements, such as Deep Learning Video Noise Reduction (DVNR), increase low-light video quality, while compatibility for cameras up to 320MP with the new APV codec raises video detail and colour precision to professional standards.

The new Exynos incorporates the Heat Path Block (HPB), which improves heat management and thermal dissipation in mobile SoCs. By optimising heat-transfer paths, it reduces thermal resistance by up to 16% while maintaining constant internal temperatures even under heavy loads. This upgrade leads to improved performance, guaranteeing smooth and consistent experiences in high-demand applications like gaming and AI processing.

The Exynos 2600 excels in performance and power efficiency due to its 2nm GAA process, which is supported by rigorous IP optimisation. The improved CPU design reduces power consumption across a wide range of workloads. The GPU’s improved power structure and ENSS optimise limited power budgets. Improved on-device AI performance and the incorporation of VPS and DVNR in the ISP further boost efficiency in complicated scenarios. Overall, the Exynos 2600 demonstrates continued advances in power efficiency, from manufacturing to design.
