Poco M8 5G with 50-megapixel camera launched in India: Price in India

The new smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset.

Poco M8 5G has officially made its debut in the Indian market today. The newly launched phone packs a 5,520mAh battery supporting 45W fast charging. It comes with a 120 Hz refresh rate supported by a 6.77-inch 3D curved display and SGS MIL-STD-810 drop certification. On the rear, there is a 50-megapixel main camera, and up front, it includes a 20-megapixel selfie shooter.

The Poco phone has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 21,999 for the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage option. There are two more variants with 8GB RAM with 128GB and 256GB storage options priced at Rs 22,999 and Rs 24,999.

The handset is going to be available for purchase starting January 13 via Flipkart and the company website in the country. The new handset will come in three colour options: Carbon Black, Glacial Blue, and Frost Silver.

The smartphone runs on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0, which is based on Android 15. The company has promised to provide four-year operating system upgrades and six-year security patches. It comes equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor.

The Poco M8 5G features a 6.77-inch 3D curved display with 1,080×2,392 pixels of resolution. The display has a peak brightness of up to 3,200 nits and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, which ensures fluid graphics, an impressive 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, and the capacity to display 68.7 billion colours. Moreover, it has a Wet Touch 2.0 function, which improves touch sensitivity when users interact with the screen when their hands are wet or moist. It also comes with an IP66 rating for dust and water resistance, as well as SGS MIL-STD-810 drop certification.

In terms of photos and videos, there is a squircle-shaped camera module which includes a 50-megapixel AI-enhanced main camera along with a 2-megapixel Light Fusion 400 sensor. It also has a 20-megapixel front-facing camera, which is excellent for taking selfies and making video calls. It allows recording videos in up to 4K quality and has a 2x in-sensor zoom.

Apart from that, the phone boasts a 5,520mAh battery and supports fast charging via 45W wired fast charging as well. In addition to this, there is a dual speaker system that supports Dolby Atmos technology, allowing a 300 per cent increase in loudness.
