JioHotstar’s new monthly plans: Now begins at Rs 79, new add-ons and more

There is a massive 47% hike in annual premium plans.

Starting on January 28, JioHotstar will provide a new set of monthly subscription packages for its streaming service in India. The plans start at Rs 79 per month and are meant to make things easier for consumers while also keeping up with changing viewing habits and more people watching on bigger screens. Users will still be able to choose from existing quarterly and yearly subscription levels, in addition to the new monthly options. The Premium package lets you stream in 4K on four devices at the same time, which is a big deal. This move shows that JioHotstar is dedicated to changing its offerings to match the changing needs of the Indian streaming consumer base.

The new JioHotstar subscription framework, which takes effect on January 28, 2026, has three different tiers- Mobile, Super, and Premium, each accessible in monthly, quarterly, or annual paying cycles to allow more flexibility for new subscribers.

The Mobile tier is the lowest priced, beginning at Rs 79 per month (Rs 149 per quarter, Rs 499 per yearly subscription). It is an ad-supported plan that only works on one mobile device at a time. It does not include Hollywood content, but users may unlock it with a separate add-on that costs Rs 49, Rs 129, and Rs  399, respectively.

The Super plan costs Rs 149 a month (Rs 349 a quarter, Rs 1,099 annually) and lets you watch on up to two devices at the same time on mobile, web, and compatible living room devices. The base pricing includes ad-supported viewing and Hollywood content.

The Premium plan costs Rs 299 per month (Rs 699 per quarter or Rs 2,199 per year) and gives you the best experience. It includes ad-free entertainment (save for live sports and shows), 4K resolution, and access on up to four devices at once. These revised rates do raise the prices of higher-tier annual plans; however, current members with auto-renewal will be safe and will keep paying the same amount.

JioHotstar is the cheapest streaming service at Rs 79; however, it contains commercials and has limited access to Hollywood content. For Rs 149, Netflix will let you watch without ads and give you full access to its global library. The annual subscription to Amazon Prime costs Rs 1,499 and comes with extra perks like free shipping and Prime Music. The price makes it a better deal than JioHotstar’s Premium Annual plan, which costs Rs 2,199. Netflix Premium for Rs 649 has better 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos, while JioHotstar Premium at Rs 299 has 4K support and can be used on four devices. In our opinion, JioHotstar is best for sports enthusiasts, Netflix is best for people who want to binge-watch, and Amazon Prime is best for smart shoppers since it has a lot of value and benefits.
