WhatsApp pushes out Group Message History feature: Details

The feature is gradually being rolled out to the public.

WhatsApp has added a new Group Message History feature to help new group members get used to the group. Now, group admins may share the history of previous conversations with new members. This lets them see a specific number of old messages that the admins pick. This functionality is in line with WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption rules, which keep messages safe. The change is meant to make group chats more accessible by getting rid of the requirement to manually send older messages to new people.

The company, via blog post, said, “We’re excited to introduce Group Message History, a feature that makes group chats even more welcoming without interruption. Now, group admins and members can choose to send recent messages to new members so they can catch up quickly.”

WhatsApp has added a new feature called Group Message History for group chats. This is meant to make things better for both administrators and members. This feature lets administrators and current members exchange recent messages with new members that join the group. This way, new members can quickly catch up on previous discussions. This new feature is important since it has end-to-end encryption, which keeps all users’ information private. This new feature is meant to make group texting better by making communication easier and getting rid of the need for screenshots and forwarding messages. These improvements will make conversation more effective and uninterrupted.

New users of a WhatsApp group conversation may now see the last 25 to 100 messages to help them get used to the group. This tool, called Group Message History, helps new people understand what’s going on by giving them important background information from past conversations. It is up to group admins whether or not to allow the sharing of message history.

Group admins may still share the message history, and all members are notified when the transfer happens, no matter where they are. The history includes timestamps and information about who sent it, so it’s easy for participants to see who contributed what. To keep things clear, the shared message history looks different from the messages that are still coming in in the conversation. This functionality is being slowly added to WhatsApp for everyone.
