Samsung T7 and T9 microSD cards for gamers and creators launched in India

The new portable SSD range is available up to 1TB storage.

Samsung has launched T7 and T9 microSD cards in India to fulfil the rising need for high-capacity and high-performance storage options in smartphones, gaming devices, and content production devices. The T7 microSD card is intended for casual gamers and content creators, while the T9 is geared toward performance seekers. This strategic branding, in which the microSD devices are aligned with Samsung’s Portable SSD line, is intended to make it easier for customers to pick the right improved portable storage option.

Samsung has unveiled the T7 and T9 microSD cards as part of its rebranding initiative in the field of portable storage. The rebranding aims to provide a consistent brand identity that is in line with Samsung’s portable SSD lineup. The new ‘T’ series now includes the old microSD models, such as EVO Plus, PRO Plus, and PRO Ultimate.

The T7 microSD card is designed for daily usage, offering a considerable storage capacity of up to 1TB. Reading rates of up to 170 MB/s make the card compatible with smartphones, laptops, tablets, and portable gaming consoles. Great for light gamers and content developers who need stable storage but don’t need high-speed transfers.

The T9 microSD card, on the other hand, is designed for consumers who want performance and want more power. It offers read speeds of up to 200MB/s and is protected by a solid 6-proof, which increases its resilience to physical strain. Ideal for handling huge files and quick file transfers, the T9 is compatible with high-performance devices, such as drones, action cameras, smartphones, computers, and tablets. This card is very useful for those who do data-demanding tasks and need fast access and transmission of data.

T9 and T7 microSD Cards are offered in the microSDXC form factor with the following capacity options: The T9 comes in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB options, while the T7 is available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Both cards are equipped with a UHS-I SDR104 and UHS-I DDR200 interface, which are compatible with the Samsung microSD reader.

In terms of performance, they share the same speed class: U3, V30, A2 and Class 10. The T9 reaches up to 200MB/s sequential read speed and up to 130MB/s write speed, while the T7 reaches up to 170MB/s sequential read speed; however, there is no write speed listed. Certifications include FCC (IC), CE (UKCA), VCCI and RCM, and both products are covered by a limited 3-year warranty.
