Paris, France, will be the host city for the third edition of the Esports World Cup (EWC), a widely followed gaming tournament, taking place from July 6 to August 23. This marks a considerable shift, as the competition moves from its previous location in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to Europe. The event will span seven weeks and be held at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. The substantial prize pool of $75 million is a major attraction for this year, emphasising the tournament’s significance and popularity within the esports community.
More than 2,000 of the best players and 200 clubs from over 100 countries are expected to participate in the EWC26, a record number. The tournament will include a wide range of 25 events in 24 different games, including the premiere of Trackmania and the return of Fortnite in Reload mode. Notably, StarCraft II has been dropped from this year’s competitions.
The event is moved to France to better engage with the European esports audience and to avoid rising uncertainties in the Middle East, with Paris chosen because of its strong infrastructure and active gaming culture. The $30 million prize pool will be divided among the top 24 clubs, further fueling cross-game rivalries and celebrating a range of team compositions.
