Samsung, the South Korean tech titan, has dropped the official invite for its Galaxy Z foldable after a series of cryptic social media teases. The invite has the tagline, “A New Shape Unfolds”. The official launch event is said to take place live in London and will be carried live globally.

Samsung has been reported to be unveiling two new foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, although nothing has been officially announced yet. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is said to have a new wide or passport-like design based on input from customers on aspect ratios. It’s expected to be broader and shorter than the previous iterations, with a 5.5-inch cover screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio and an internal display with a 7.6-inch diagonal and a 4:3 aspect ratio.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will be 9.7mm thick when folded and will weigh in at 201 grams overall. It is expected that the vehicle will have a tall and slim profile and will have premium features. The next generation is tipped to bring big upgrades, including a bigger battery that is over 5,000mAh in size. This would greatly enhance both performance and battery life.
Along with that, reports also suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide would ditch the back camera as well as adopt a smaller battery to make it more competitive on the market.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is said to include a lighter and improved hinge design and better processing power. This model will still retain its iconic foldable form factor, but it will be getting a lot of internal upgrades. It is expected to ship with the Samsung Exynos 2600 CPU, which is built on a 2nm architecture and is coupled with a robust 12GB of RAM.
The Z Flip 8 will also include a 4.1-inch outer FlexWindow, which will be one of the phone’s unique selling points, with a new mechanical design that aims to minimise the visibility of creases on the main display. For optimal power management, the smartphone will most probably come with a 4,300mAh battery and 25W cable charging.
Meanwhile, new supply chain information suggests that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 might be the last generation of the Z Flip series, as Samsung is reportedly shifting its focus to tri-fold and multi-fold form factors for smartphones. To provide a better user experience and software features, One UI 9 based on the latest Android 17 platform will also be pre-installed on the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra.
Besides this, Samsung is also likely to introduce two versions of its Galaxy Watch, a regular model and a premium rugged variant called the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. The Ultra 2 is said to have upgrades such as a thinner bezel and a design that respects traditional watch face aesthetics. Interestingly, there’s no Classic model with a physical rotating bezel in the works for this iteration.

Outside of the watches, there’s a lot of hype about Samsung’s Android XR smart glasses, which will likely focus primarily on built-in cameras and audio features. Powered by Google Gemini, the smart glasses are designed to provide contextual AI assistance in the real world but won’t be heavy on mixed-reality capabilities.
