Inside the Instagram app, creators can generate a first draft of a Reel, allowing them to rearrange, delete, adjust, or even start again with their content. First Draft works with all types of video, whether it’s a multi-clip montage, talking-head video, or day-in-the-life footage.
The company made the announcement in an Instagram post, where it said, ‘Introducing First Draft, a new way to create a Reel within the Instagram app. Simply select your clips, and with one tap, it cuts the pauses and trims down your clips, so you have a starting point to build from in seconds. Everything First draft does is reversible, you can adjust or reorder anything before moving on. It handles the early video trimming so you can focus less on technical production, and get to the creative part sooner.”
One notable feature of First Draft is its ability to differentiate between pauses, silences and spoken parts in the videos. Once the parts are identified, the tool strips out some sections to make a rough edit. Then users have the option to either post the Reel as it has been edited or make additional modifications. Importantly, any edits made via First Draft are reversible, offering creators more control over the final video.
