What to Expect: Hardware and Pricing

The product portfolio this year represents a major strategic move, a concentrated effort on the ultra-premium category that departs from a nearly ten-year tradition. Interestingly, the regular iPhone 18 and 18e models have been pushed back to Spring 2027. Obviously, the focus here is on the top-of-the-line products this time around. This move is a sign of a strategic change in putting the brand in the high-end category, targeting a more well-off consumer base.

Tonight’s big announcements are said to include two new premium smartphones – the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max – plus a foldable device called the “iPhone Ultra“.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will likely come with 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch screens, respectively, with both using OLED technology. They will come with the A20 Pro processor built on a 2nm technology, along with a C2 modem for better connectivity. The camera arrangement would differ from the Pro Max variant in that it would have a dual 48MP rear camera setup and wouldn’t have a telephoto lens. The camera setup would include a 48MP primary camera with a mechanical variable aperture.

Biometric security will still be Face ID, albeit the iPhone 18 series will include a smaller Dynamic Island. It will also have Touch ID embedded in the side power button as another identification mechanism. These gadgets will be built with a titanium border in Dark Cherry and Sky Blue finishes.

In contrast, the rumoured foldable ‘iPhone Ultra’ would include a bigger 7.8-inch inner OLED panel and a 5.4-inch cover screen. The CPU will be the A20 Pro with 12GB of RAM as well, hoping for solid performance.

The price of these new models in India is expected to be about ₹1.34 lakh to ₹1.70 lakh for the iPhone 18 series, while the foldable model is believed to be priced beyond ₹1.5 lakh (almost $2,000). The price strategy is in line with Apple’s posture in the premium smartphone segment, targeting high-end users.

Wearables and Audio Updates

Apple is gearing up to upgrade its peripheral ecosystem, with major improvements coming for its wearables and audio products. The Apple Watch Series 12 will allegedly be a minor upgrade with additional health sensors and the return of the ceramic casing option. Another expected feature is a big hardware change for the Apple Watch Ultra 4. The next AirPods 5, meanwhile, will reportedly come in both Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and non-ANC models and might include additional health-tracking features like heart-rate monitoring. The A20 Pro SoC will also be introduced with a new 2nm production method and a mechanical variable aperture, which will be a huge upgrade for hardware technology.
