The new version provided an inexpensive entry point at a time when the trend of smartphone pricing in India was on the rise and there was a need for fresh RAM and storage options.

Previously, Phone (4a) and Phone (4b) basic configurations had 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. But the new edition has 6GB of RAM while providing the same internal storage capacity as the now higher-end model. Both the versions are up for sale on Flipkart.

The pricing of the Nothing Phone (4a) 6GB RAM with 128GB storage option is Rs 39,999. The Nothing Phone (4b) is available in two variants – 8GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage – that are priced at Rs 39,999 and Rs 40,999 respectively.

The Nothing Phone (4b) basic model with the same RAM and storage capacity comes at a price of Rs 35,999. Nothing Phone (4b) is available in 8GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage variants for Rs 39,999 and Rs 40,999.

The Nothing Phone (4a) is highlighted with a 6.78-inch LTPS AMOLED screen that can change its refresh rate between 30 Hz and 120 Hz to make the experience better for the user. This display stands out because it can reach a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, which makes it easy to see even in strong light. Its normal brightness level is 800 nits. Gorilla Glass 7i protection also makes the screen more durable by making it scratch- and damage-resistant. The Nothing Phone 4a still has an IP64 classification, which means it can only protect against a little bit of dust and water.

The Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset powers the gadget. The Phone 4a’s new Glyph Bar has 63 mini-LEDs that can brighten up to 3,500 nits.

Additonally, it has three cameras on the back: a 50MP Samsung GN9 main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), a 50MP Samsung JN5 periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom, and an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide-angle lens. The front camera of the Samsung KD1 is 32MP and can take selfies and make video calls.

The Phone (4a) houses a 5,400mAh battery and can charge quickly at 50W, which means it can be fully charged in just 64 minutes.

The gadget has an optical fingerprint sensor built into the display, which makes it safer and easier to operate. It also has two high-definition microphones and two stereo speakers, which make calls and multimedia activities sound better.

The display also features a 1,000Hz instant touch sampling rate, which provides ultra-responsive performance, making it particularly suitable for gaming.

Under the hood is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor, and it has a wide cooling area and vapour chamber, which reduce surface temperatures by up to 2°C while gaming and peak CPU temps by up to 18.8°C. It is powered by Nothing OS 4.1, based on Android 16. It offers 3 years of Android upgrades and 6 years of security updates. It also includes Essential AI tools like native ChatGPT integration, Google Gemini, and features via the Essential Key to help you become more organised and creative.

The phone (4b) has dual back cameras, including a 50-megapixel primary camera from Samsung with dual-axis optical image stabilisation and electronic image stabilisation to improve its low-light performance and make videos more stable. It also has an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens with a 119.5-degree field of view for wide pictures. It is capable of recording 4K video at 30 frames per second. The gadget also has a few exclusive filters, such as a Disco filter that provides colourful lighting effects and a DV filter to create an analogue look. For selfies, there is a 16-megapixel front facing camera with f/2.4 aperture.

The smartphone comes with a 5,200mAh battery, the longest-lasting among Nothing phones, with an improved 6,000mAh variant available in India. The company claims the battery will last for 46 hours of talk time, 34 hours of music, 27 hours of Instagram, 22 hours of YouTube, 18 hours of mixed use and 9 hours of games.
