Nester Home Cook Glass Air Fryer Review: Is a See-Through Bowl Worth It? That Is A Hard Yes

A 6.2L borosilicate glass air fryer with SteamLock tech that wants a permanent spot on your counter and your dining table.

Most air fryers are black boxes. You slide the basket in, trust the timer and hope for the best. This Nester Home Cook glass air fryer review looks at an appliance that ditches the mystery with a clear glass bowl, adds a moisture-retention feature called SteamLock, and asks Rs 16,999 for the privilege. That is a lot of money for a gadget that makes crispy samosas, so let’s see whether the design earns it. We spent some time with the Nester Home Cook Glass Air Fryer and this is what we could make of this new kitchen helper.

Design

The Home Cook looks less like an appliance and more like a stand mixer’s stylish cousin. It comes in Dalgona Brown and Smoked Caramel colour options with warm finishes, a single top-mounted knob and an acacia wood lid that sits beside the glass bowl. It measures 30.3 cm deep, 37.8 cm wide and 32.3 cm tall, so it wants real counter space. At 6.66 kg, it is also not something you will casually shuffle in and out of a cupboard.

The 6mm borosilicate bowl is the headline act. It is oven-safe grade, non-porous and odour-resistant. Nester says it uses no PTFE, no PFAS and no ceramic coating, which matters if you are wary of nonstick surfaces that flake over time. The bowl sits recessed inside the body, which should keep outer surfaces cooler, and side handles help you carry it.

The “cook, serve and store” idea is genuinely clever. Cook in the bowl, carry it to the table, put the lid on and send leftovers to the fridge. Fewer dishes is a feature every Indian household can appreciate after a family dinner. One practical caution applies. Like any glass cookware, it deserves respect around sudden temperature swings, so let a hot bowl cool before it meets cold water or a cold shelf.

The controls are refreshingly simple. Turn the knob to a mode, press to start and walk away. No touchscreen menus, no beeping through five submenus to reheat a paratha.

Performance

Under the hood sits a 1600W carbon crystal heating element. Nester says it holds temperature within 10°C of your set point across a 40°C to 200 degree celcius range. That low-end reach is useful for gentle jobs like keeping food warm or reheating, while 200°C handles the crisping.

SteamLock is the feature that makes this air fryer different from the crowd. It adds moisture during cooking so food stays tender inside while the outside crisps up. Nester calls it India’s first 6.2L air fryer with SteamLock, and it is worth reading that claim carefully. It applies to Nester’s own proprietary feature, not to glass-bowl air fryers in general. Whether SteamLock beats a regular air fryer on a batch of paneer tikka or chicken drumsticks will depend on real kitchen use, and that is the part to watch in user reviews over the coming months.

The nine smart presets are well chosen for Indian cooking. You get Air Fry, Grill, Roast, Bake, Tandoor, Snacks, Reheat, Keep Warm and Home Chef. Each preset carries its own temperature, time and steam timing, while Home Chef hands you full manual control. A dedicated Tandoor mode is a nice nod to how people here actually cook.

We tried to cook French fries and some baked chicken in it and it did a pretty decent job. We used minimal oil and ingredients, yet the outcome was flavourful and crisp. We for one, are health-conscious, and this definitely tops our list when it comes to less oily cooking. We were not disappointed at all. This is a very decent option for everyday home cooks.

The glass outlook also helps in keeping tabs on whether the food is cooked or not. This supports taking out your favourite dishes on or time and, in turn, saves electricity.

The 6.2L capacity suits families of three to five, or anyone who batch-cooks. If you mostly cook for one, this is more air fryer than you need. For smaller households, our picks of the best air fryers in India cover far cheaper and more compact options, too.

This air fryer is sold through Nester’s website, Amazon and Flipkart. Promotional listings have appeared at lower prices on marketplaces, so it is worth comparing before you pay full price. You can read our launch coverage and price details for the original announcement. The box includes the air fryer, wooden lid, grill rack, recipe book and user manual, and a 3-year warranty comes with doorstep service across India.

Context matters here. Most mainstream air fryers in India sell well below Rs 13,000, so this is firmly premium territory. You are paying for the glass bowl, the serve-and-store convenience and the design. If raw cooking power per rupee is your only goal, a conventional model will serve you well.

Verdict

The Nester Home Cook is not trying to be the cheapest air fryer or the most feature-stuffed one. It is trying to be the one you are happy to leave on the counter, and the one you can watch work. The glass bowl, simple knob, useful presets and easy cleaning make a strong case for buyers who value design and low-clutter cooking.

If you cook for a family, want a 6.2L glass air fryer in India and do not mind paying a premium, this one deserves a place on your shortlist. If you are on a tight budget or cook for one, you can look elsewhere.
