T-Series’ YouTube channel becomes the first to cross 100 million subscribers

T-Series channel on YouTube has now crossed 100 million subcribers.

Indian record label T-Series’ YouTube channel has become the first ever to cross the mark of 100 million subscribers on the popular video sharing platform. The YouTube channel had surpassed all other channels and influencers in terms of subscribers back in April this year when it surpassed PewDiePie with a lead of over 9,20,000 subscribers. Today, it has unlocked a new achievement by crossing the 100 million subscriber mark.

At the time of writing, the T-Series’ YouTube channel had 100,015,362 subscribers. We should mention that a lot of different aspects have led to this achievement. To begin with, the war of telecommunication companies in the country has led to a fall in data prices. This made a lot more users spend time on the internet and social media, and YouTube was no exception to that.

Secondly, the sub-Rs 5,000 segment in the Indian smartphone market has seen some good additions last year, especially with Android Go platform. This has led to a number of people use smartphones for the first time ever. With more number of people in India using smartphones, more number of people started using YouTube.

Thirdly, YouTube made its way to feature phones like JioPhone, JioPhone 2 and Nokia 8110 4G last year. With this, the platform was not only limited to smartphone users in the country but even to those who used feature phones.

All three factors led to an increase in the number of people using YouTube. That, in turn, led to more people coming to T-Series’ YouTube channel. The reason why an increase in YouTube’s user base in India is directly proportional to an increase in T-Series’ subscribers is the content on the channel. T-Series‘ YouTube channel has music videos from Bollywood, and this category is immensely popular with the Indian population. So, as more Indians came to YouTube for the first time, more number of people subscribed to T-Series.

We should mention that last year, the sudden increase in the channel’s popularity led to a war between PewDiePie and T-series for the maximum number of subscribers on YouTube. T-Series eventually surpassed PewDiePie as the biggest YouTube channel. However, before that, a number of things were done by PewDiePie and his followers to oppose it.

For instance, some printers were hacked last year which urged people to follow PewDiewPie. The YouTuber himself made two videos, Bitch Lasagna and Congratulations, in which he dissed T-Series, India and Indian people.
