Asus ROG Phone 2 with Snapdragon 855 SoC goes official

Asus ROG Phone 2 has now been made official. Just like its predecessor, the smartphone comes with an impressive set of specifications and focusses on gaming. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC, the handset comes with a display that has a refresh rate of 120Hz. This means that every task on the Asus ROG Phone 2 – be it browsing the internet or playing games – will be smooth. Here’s a look at the specifications and price details of the newly launched smartphone:

Asus ROG Phone 2 price and availability

Asus ROG Phone 2’s price and availability have not been revealed by the company yet. They are expected to be announced at the official launch event that is scheduled for tomorrow at 2 pm CST in China (11:30 am IST).

However, the company has told The Verge that its latest gaming smartphone will be priced in the same bracket as its predecessor, so it can be expected to be priced around Rs 69,990 at the time of its launch. The handset is said to hit the shelves in global markets in September this year.

Asus ROG Phone 2 specifications

Asus ROG Phone 2 runs Android Pie skinned with ROG UI and it features a 6.59-inch full-HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) AMOLED display that has a refresh rate of 120Hz. The screen of the handset has a response time of 1ms, support for 10-bit HDR, a contrast ratio of 1,00,000:1 and a layer of Gorilla Glass 6 for protection. According to The Verge, the display of the smartphone has a 240Hz touch sampling rate and a latency of 49ms.

Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, the new offering by Asus has up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It has dual front-facing stereo speakers with DTS: X Ultra support and for imaging duties, it comes with a 48MP primary sensor and a 13MP wide-angle sensor (125 degrees field of view). For selfies and video calls, there is a 24MP snapper.

The connectivity options of the smartphone include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, WiFi-Direct, NFC, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Bluetooth 5.0. The handset houses a 6,000mAh battery that comes with support for Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging.

Sensors onboard include an accelerometer, a compass, a proximity sensor, a hall sensor, an ambient light sensor, a gyroscope, and an ultrasonic sensor. The newly launched Asus ROG Phone 2 also has an in-display fingerprint scanner.
