Fossil launched affordable Fossil Gen 5E smartwatch with Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset

The new smartwatch comes in two sizes 42mm and 44mm

The designer watch manufacturer Fossil has launched its affordable range of new smartwatches in the market. The company has introduced Fossil Gen 5E smartwatch models in different sizes as well as styles. The new line up includes both 42mm and 44mm case size options. Moreover, smart wearable also comes in distinct colour options. These run on Wear OS by Google and are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset.

Fossil Gen 5E smartwatch models price and availability

The all-new Fossil Gen 5E has been introduced in the US. The price of both 42mm and 44mm case size options starts at $249 that translates to Rs 18,200. Both options will be available for both male and female users in different styles and colour options. This will be offered in Black Silicone, Brown Leather, Black Stainless Steel, Two-Tone Stainless Steel, Rose Gold-Tone Stainless Steel Mesh, Rose Gold-Tone Stainless Steel and Blush Silicone. The pre-orders of the smartwatch have opened in the US and according to the company, the shipping will begin from November 3. As of now, there is no word from the company with regard to the international availability of the watch.

Fossil Gen 5E specifications

As we mentioned earlier Fossil Gen 5E comes in two sizes, the 42mm and 44mm. The 42mm models carry a 1.19-inch AMOLED display which has a resolution of 390×390 and pixel density of 328ppi. All the models with this size have stainless steel and have a gold finish with an attached 18mm wrist strap. Whereas the 44mm case size has a 22mm wrist strap attached to it. The watch runs on Google’s Wear OS and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.

The Fossil Gen 5E Black Silicone model is 5ATM rated for water resistance while the Brown Leather and Black Stainless Steel are rated for 3ATM water resistance. On the other hand, all the women models of the smartwatch come with 5ATM water resistance.

All the smart wearables feature a built-in speaker to answer calls, multi-day battery modes, and heart rate and activity tracking. One can also get notified, receive, or reply tests with a tap. The user can also control music, change the volume and more. For contactless payment, Gen 5E also has Google Pay. As we said earlier it has various battery modes on it that include daily mode, extended mode, time only mode and custom mode.

Over that, the smartwatch also features an Always-On display with a screen waking button and touch. For connectivity, this has Bluetooth 4.2 LE, NFC, GPS, LTE, and Wi-Fi. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, gyroscope, off-body IR, and PPG heart rate sensor.

As the device is voice-enabled one can also control their smart home device with their voice command. Interestingly with Toyota remote connect you can start your car from afar.
