America-based company Garmin has expanded its wearable portfolio by launching its latest premium smartwatch. Garmin Forerunner 745 smartwatch has been introduced in the US. The device comes with a colour display and delivers a longer battery life. It has an advanced GPS for the elite runners who watch out for detailed training data and more. Other than Garmin connects it can easily be synced with other training apps such as TrainingPeaks and TrainingRoad. The Garmin smartwatch also supports Garmin Coach that offers free training plans for better performance.

Garmin Forerunner 745 has been introduced in four colour options, Black, Magma Red, Neo Tropic, and Whitestone. This is a GPS running smartwatch and, in the US, it has been priced at $499 that translates to Rs 36,700. The device is now up for sale via its official US website.

Garmin Forerunner 745 features a 1.2-inch colour touch display with 240×240 pixels resolution. This is the successor to the Forerunner 735XT. It comes with features specifically built for the athletes to track their workout and performance. It has a transflective memory-in-pixel (MIP) display with Corning Gorilla Glass DX layering on top for protection. Built from fiber-reinforced polymer the device water resistance as it is 5ATM rated. It sports built-in GPS that can deliver 7 days of battery life on a single charge and without music it runs for 16 hours.
The Garmin premium smartwatch features built-in activity profiles, including triathlon, pool swimming, track running and more, athletes can round out their training routine and can seamlessly switch between activities with the press of a button during a race or brick workout. According to the company these features will help athletes better prepare for a race or training cycle, the Forerunner 745 includes key performance monitoring tools from Firstbeat Analytics like VO2 max, training load, training status and aerobic and anaerobic training effects.
In addition to this, the Forerunner 745 is also capable of receiving on-device running and cycling daily workout suggestions based on the user’s current training load and VO2 max. Along with Running Dynamics Pod or compatible heart rate strap like the new HRM-Pro allows viewing six running metrics – including cadence, stride length and more – right on the watch.
Not only this it has advanced dynamics to help with cycling and swim training, whereas when on the bike it will track the data such as left/right balance, time seated and standing, platform center offset and power phase. For the swimmers and water sports it will let them track distance, stroke, pace, personal records and more.
The smartwatch also carries the improved recovery time feature helping the athletes know how long to rest before a hard training session. Another important factor has also been taken care of that impacts recovery including all-day stress, sleep and daily activities, and will adjust the recovery time on the watch.
“Before heading out for a run or ride, athletes can plan and download routes using the course creator in Garmin Connect, which uses Trendline popularity routing to provide the best road, trail, or mountain routes that are aggregated from those most traveled by fellow runners and cyclists. For athletes using platforms like Strava and Komoot, they can create courses that will seamlessly sync to the Forerunner 745.”
The Garmin Forerunner 745 also comes with a Pulse Ox sensor to monitor users’ sleeping and adjusting to altitude acclimation while the Body Battery energy monitor lets athletes track their energy levels to find the best times for activity and rest. Also, there is a menstrual cycle tracking feature that will help women adjust their training to maximize improvement potential and plan for upcoming races based on where they are in their cycle.
