Can I recover deleted Snapchat messages?

You can view your entire messaging history by requesting Snapchat for your account info.

Known for its ephemeral messaging, Snapchat deletes your texts and media right after the receiver views them. While many people use Snapchat for this feature alone, sometimes you may need to recover a deleted text. You can always save your messages by simply tapping on them, or setting a 24-hour timer for the texts to auto-delete. But if you want to retrieve a deleted text, the process can be quite confusing. In this article, we show you how you can recover deleted Snapchat messages.

Bonus tip:

If you want to recover recently deleted messages, all you need to do is access Snapchat’s cache data. Simply go to Files>Internal Storage>Android>Data>com.snapchat.android. Look for the messages file and rename it to remove the .nomedia extension. If your phone doesn’t identify the file, add a .txt extension and try again. If you do not see any messages, it means Snapchat has already dumped the cache data. In this case, you will have to follow the process mentioned above and request your account data from Snapchat to retrieve deleted messages.
