Facebook Messenger app crosses 1billion downloads on Android

The social networking giant Facebook has revealed that its Messenger app for Android has crossed 1 billion downloads. The VP, product Messaging David Marcus has shared a screen shot of the same on Facebook.

The number of downloads registered in the Google Play store have crossed the 1 billion mark. It took a complete year for the app to cross this milestone, last year during the same time it had 500 million downloads. The Facebook Messenger is the third app of the company to achieve 1 billion downloads.

Of late Facebook is also focusing a lot on its Messenger app. The social networking giant has introduced new features like video calling, location sharing via messages and information about the first time message senders. These updates are introduced in order to enhance the user experience.
