Moto Z4 Play to sport a 48MP primary camera, U-shaped notch and in-display fingerprint scanner: Report

Last month, renders of the next-generation Moto Z4 Play smartphone surfaced online, and the most important thing that they confirmed was that the device will continue to have support for Moto Mod. The device will be the successor of Moto Z3 Play smartphone and will come with an edge-to-edge display.

And now, the specifications of the much-awaited smartphone have surfaced online. A report in technology website 91mobiles gives out a number of details about the Moto Z4 Play smartphone, quoting an anonymous and reliable source.

According to the report, the Moto Z4 Play smartphone sports a U-shaped notch on top of its display which, based on prior leaks, will be 6.22-inch in size. The Moto Z4 Play will be the first smartphone by the company to come with an in-display fingerprint scanner and it has also been suggested that the screen of the smartphone will come with a Super AMOLED panel.

The upcoming smartphone will reportedly be powered by the SM6150 processor, which may be the codename for Qualcomm’s 11nm Snapdragon 675 chipset. The report further says that the Moto Z4 Play smartphone will be available in 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM models that will be coupled with 64GB and 128GB of storage. Furthermore, the smartphone is expected to be launched with Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box and will house a 3,600mAh battery.

For imaging duties, the Moto Z4 Play is said to come with a 48MP sensor and it has also been reported that Motorola will use Q Technology’s S5KGM1SP sensor, instead of Sony or Samsung’s. However, as of now, there is no word on the number of sensors that will be placed on the back panel of the Moto Z4 Play smartphone.

According to the leaked renders of the smartphone, it would have magnetic pins on its rear panel, which will enable users to attach Moto Mods on the device. However, this is all that we know so far. We will keep updating you about the Moto Z4 Play smartphone as and when we get to know more. We are expecting more reports to surface online in the days to come as Moto Z4 Play is expected to be launched in the first half of 2019.
