WhatsApp has started to roll out new features for Communities allowing users to organise events. The instant messaging platform by Meta brings a new Events feature and enables replies in Announcement Groups. With the addition of new ways of organising events, the WhatsApp Communities will become more engaging. Group members may create any kind of event using events, and other participants can subsequently register their attendance or absence. In addition, WhatsApp will send out a notification as the event gets closer.
Meta, via a blog post, said, “Since launching WhatsApp Communities, we’ve seen neighbourhoods, school associations, hobbyists, and more use the feature to keep groups connected and organised. To help bring communities even closer together, we’re adding a new way for people to organise events on WhatsApp, and we’re introducing organised replies in Announcement Groups so members can respond to important updates from admins.”

Organising events on WhatsApp gets easier
WhatsApp is making it simple for users to organise events like a birthday dinner or a virtual meeting straight in WhatsApp. As per Meta, anyone can create an event to which others can reply, allowing everyone in the group to be aware of who is attending.
The event will also be listed on the group’s information page, and attendees will receive an alert as it approaches. As of now, Events will initially be available to groups that are members of a community, and over the next few months, they will be extended to all groups.

Replies to Announcement Groups
Additionally, WhatsApp Communities offers the ability for users to respond to announcements from group administrators, which facilitates maintaining group communication. This feature allows administrators to receive feedback from their members and maintains the convenience of being able to quickly learn about events within your community.
Moreover, notifications are muted for everyone, and replies are put together and minimised so you can see what others have said in context.
