Announced: HP laptops to start with two prefixes – Omni and Elite

Gaming PCs will continue to thrive under the renowned Omen brand.

HP has announced a rebranding initiative to simplify its consumer and commercial PC portfolios. The new strategy aims to unify the portfolio under a single prefix, “Omni,” followed by a signifier indicating the product category. The evolution of HP’s commercial PC brands, HP EliteBook and ProBook, has also been revealed. More on this below:

According to the latest announcement by HP, its lineup of consumer PCs will be unified under a single prefix, “Omni,” which will be followed by a signifier that corresponds to the product category. Now onwards HP laptops will be referred to as “OmniBook,” all-in-one desktop computers as “OmniStudio,” and traditional desktop computers as “OmniDesk.” Whereas the gaming PCs will keep doing well under the well-known OMEN brand.
As per the company, the OMNI prefix signifies universality and the company’s dedication to providing cutting-edge solutions that meet every requirement in the modern hybrid environment.

Not just that each HP device will now include a number in its name, ranging from 2 to 10 (with 10 represented by “X”). Odd numbers will denote consumer PCs, while even numbers will be assigned to commercial PCs, closely mapping back to the existing system. The numbering system will allow customers to quickly identify the hierarchy of the portfolio, with higher numbers indicating increased performance and advanced features.

Furthermore, HP has also introduced the modifier “Ultra” to denote its most premium offerings and descriptive modifiers like “Fold” for dual screens and “Flip” for convertible PCs.

The HP AI Helix logo, symbolizing the integration of advanced AI capabilities in next-gen AI PCs, is also unveiled. According to the firm these devices are built with HP AI Engineering, unique experiences, and protection against AI-generated threats. The AI Helix’s shape is reminiscent of the structure of DNA, symbolizing HP’s commitment to embedding the DNA of AI into its devices.
