After finding success with its see-through design philosophy, Nothing established a subsidiary brand called CMF which focuses on relatively affordable tech products. So far, CMF has released two TWS products, a neckband, a smartwatch, and a GaN charger. This month, Nothing is pulling out the big guns with the launch of the first CMF Phone set for July 8. The brand has been periodically dropping specs and teasers about the upcoming smartphone. And by the looks of it, it is bound to stir things up. With the launch date approaching soon, here is everything we know about the CMF Phone 1 so far.

CMF Phone 1: Form factor, specs, features, and more
While CMF’s design language is far removed from Nothing’s products, it does have a unique identity. The company likes to play around with solid colours, as evidenced by the consistent splash of orange across its line of products. The CMF Phone 1 will not only carry that forward, but it will also add a new twist to the form factor we’re used to seeing.
The plastic back panel of the CMF phone has visible screws on the body. Looking at the latest teaser image posted by CMF, it appears that these screws can be undone using the compact screwdriver that comes with the device. This screwdriver also doubles as a SIM ejector tool.
But here’s the most fun part of the whole experience – the CMF Phone 1 will sport detachable cases for the back panel. The colour options include Black, Blue, Orange, and Light Green. Users can also add different accessories like a kickstand, lanyard, and more to the back panel. It remains to be seen whether taking apart the back panel with the screwdriver provided in the box will allow users to swap the battery of the phone.
The display specs of the CMF Phone 1 are also quite impressive. The smartphone will rock a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz. This display supports HDR10+ and can reach a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. There is a touchscreen sensor underneath this display as well.
Under the hood, the CMF Phone 1 will rock the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC. This will make it more powerful than Nothing Phone 2a (our review here), which was launched earlier this year. There will be 16GB of RAM onboard, although Nothing may also offer smaller RAM variants.
There are two camera sensors on the back panel of the smartphone. Nothing has confirmed that the primary shooter will be a 50MP f/1.8 sensor from Sony. The company says it “captures naturally beautiful images”. There are advanced algorithms like Ultra XDR onboard to bring out the best in the images captured by the main sensor. The details of the secondary camera still remain a mystery. We expect it to be an ultrawide lens since Nothing isn’t known to add clutter like a macro camera or a depth sensor to its rear camera modules.
