Here is how a Reddit user managed to buy iPhone 16 for just Rs 27,000

A Redditor claimed to have earned 62,930 reward points with his HDFC Infinia credit card, which he used to purchase an iPhone 16.

A Reddit user claimed to have bought the iPhone 16 for Rs 27,000, which is a substantial reduction from the market price. The iPhone 16 series debuted on September 9. Flipkart and Amazon both sell iPhone 16 models, with varying exchange and credit/debit card offers. The user’s claims have taken the internet by storm, highlighting the buzz around the iPhone 16 series and the possibility of big discounts.

A Reddit member utilised his HDFC Infinia credit card to save Rs 62,930 on a phone purchase. The user’s tweet went viral, emphasising the need to redeem reward points to save money on phone purchases. While some were surprised, others had questions. One user wondered how they managed to acquire so many reward points.

To back up the claim, the individual submitted a copy of their purchase receipt. In a Reddit post, the user said, “Thanks for the reward points. “I now regret using this card for some of my big spend.”

In response to the question of why he regretted using the card, the man said, “I used an Amazon Pay card for jewellery purchases just for 1% cashback thinking Infinia wouldn’t give any points on jewellery but it actually does.” “Approximately how much did you do to accumulate 62930 Points?” was the question posed by another user on the points earned.
In response, the original posting said, “About 15 Lakh.” “I have 50k regalia points, but I can’t find the option to use points for iPhone 13,” commented a third user. “It makes me feel how little I know about credit cards and I was so dumb assuming that credit cards are,” a fourth user acknowledged.

Here is how to make purchases using a similar buying method

Use a credit card with high reward rates, like the HDFC Infinia, which gives more rates on major purchases, to get a comparable bargain. Purchase expensive items, like jewels, to get points. This might be a tactic for making regular large-scale purchases. Seek for frugal redemption options such as purchasing gadgets like Apple items through the rewards system. Customers can use certain portals to redeem their points for unique offers on certain cards, such as the Infinia.

The Reddit user regretted it though, saying that if they had made earlier purchases with their Infinia card, they may have accrued more points. To get the most points possible, it’s important to understand the rewards offered by your card and make the most of your spending capacity.
