In order to prevent identity theft, financial fraud, and privacy violations, Google is implementing Android’s Identity Check function on a limited number of Pixel and Samsung Galaxy handsets. Other OEMs will thereafter be allowed to use this feature as well. The feature is anticipated to prevent data and personal handsets from being stolen by using biometric authentication to secure devices.
Android has introduced Android Theft Protection, a set of tools intended to safeguard users and their data prior to, during, and following device theft. The company keeps adding new features and improving existing ones so that more customers throughout the world can benefit from even stronger protection.

Identity Check
On Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices that are compatible with One UI 7, Identity Check is now available, offering improved security for critical account and device settings. Users can employ explicit biometric authentication to access sensitive resources outside trusted locations by turning on Identity Check. Making it more difficult for unauthorised attackers to take over accounts, this innovation further improves Samsung Account security on One UI 7 eligible Galaxy devices and Google Account security on all supported devices.

By turning on Identity Check, users can specify trustworthy locations where they can change important account and device settings, like the device’s PIN or biometrics, and turn off theft protection, or access passkeys, when outside these trusted locations.
Identity Check is a security feature that, even in the event that an attacker figures out the device PIN, shields private device assets from unwanted access. It is currently available on Pixel devices running Android 15, and in the upcoming weeks, it will be accessible on Galaxy devices that support One UI 7 as well as later this year on Android devices from other manufacturers.
One UI 7 is presently available for Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series, which includes the S25, S25+, and Ultra variants, whereas Android 15 is currently available for Google Pixel devices, which include the Pixel Fold smartphone and the Pixel 6, 7, 8, and 9 series.
