The Bloomberg Billionaires Index is out, and we now know who the richest billionaires of 2018 are. It is for the first time that the top three names on the list are from the world of technology. 1Jeff Bezos
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos surpassed Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates last year to become the richest man in the world. It goes without saying that he tops the list of tech billionaires too. His total net worth has been valued at $142 billion. Besides Amazon, he also founded an aerospace company called Blue Origin which has plans to begin commercial suborbital human spaceflight this year.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates topped Forbes’ list of wealthiest people from 1995 to 2017 with the exception of four years in between. In fact he stayed on top of this list consecutively starting from March 2014 to 2017. He was surpassed by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos last year and a major reason for this was said to be the fact that Gates donates a lot of his money in philanthropic activities he does under his initiative Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. According to the report, his total net worth is $94.2 billion.
3Mark Zuckerberg
The Facebook CEO made headlines last week for surpassing Warren Buffett to become the third richest person in the world. According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Zuckerberg’s net worth is $81.6 billion, which is around $373 million more than Buffett’s. Facebook has been in news this year for the data breach scandal that it was involved in. In spite of this, Facebook’s shares rose over 2.4% making Zuckerberg the third richest person on the planet.
4Larry Page
The next on the list is Google co-founder Larry Page. According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Larry Page’s net worth is $56 billion. Page founded Google along with Sergey Brin in 1998 and remained the CEO of the technology giant till 2001. He re-assumed the role in 2011 and served as the CEO of Google till 2015 when he stepped down only to become the CEO of Alphabet.
5Sergey Brin
We weren’t surprised to see the other co-founder of Google – Sergey Brin – next on the list. Currently Brin is serving as the President of Alphabet and according to Bloomberg’s list; his total net worth is $54.6 billion. The Google co-founder holds a Master of Science degree in computer science from Stanford University and is referred to as an ‘Enlightenment Man’ by The Economist.
6Larry Ellison
The sixth person on Bloomberg’s list is Oracle founder Larry Ellison. According to the list, his net worth is $52.6 billion. He served as the CEO of Oracle till 2014. He has signed The Giving Pledge and has donated up to 1% of his wealth to charity.4
7Jack Ma
Next on the list Alibaba’s founder Jack Ma, who has played a key role in China’s rise in the international internet industry. He is the seventh tech billionaire on Bloomberg’s list and his total net worth is $44.3 billion. Ma stepped down as the CEO of Alibaba in 2013, and has ever since been the executive chairman of the e-commerce giant.
8Pony Ma
Chinese technology entrepreneur Pony Ma or Ma Huateng is the next on the list. According to Bloomberg, his total net worth is $39 billion. He is the founder, Chairman and CEO of Tencent, one among the biggest internet and technology companies in the world. Tencent controls China’s biggest instant messaging platform WeChat. The company’s subsidiaries provide media, payment systems, smartphones, etc both in China and internationally.
9Steve Ballmer
Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is next on the list with a total net worth of $38.4 billion. Although he resigned as the CEO of Microsoft in 2014, he still holds a 4% stake in the company. He is reportedly the biggest shareholder of Microsoft.
10Paul Allen
The tenth tech billionaire on Bloomberg’s list is the other co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen. His net worth is $25.5 billion. He is also the founder and Chairman of Vulcan, which manages his various business ventures and philanthropic activities.
