After a 2-year hiatus, CMF is back with a new iteration of its smartwatch. Priced at Rs 8,000, it costs Rs 2,500 more than its predecessor (our review here), but it gets some nifty upgrades. For starters, it has a bigger, brighter AMOLED display and a larger battery pack under the hood. It also gets a dual-band GPS this time around. We’ve been using the smartwatch for over a week to track everything from morning jogs to sleep cycles. Here is our in-depth review of the CMF Watch 3 Pro.

CMF Watch 3 Pro Review: Design and Display
Box Contents
- Smartwatch
- Silicone strap
- Magnetic clip charger
- Safety guide
The Watch 3 Pro carries forward the round form factor of its predecessor. The aluminium frame housing the display no longer has a removable bezel. The rotating crown functions smoothly and creates nice haptic feedback. Apart from this crown, there are no buttons on the watch. The bottom panel houses the sensor array and magnetic pin connector.
The silicone watch strap has a standard pin and buckle fastening mechanism. The strap offers a snug fit and does not cause any itchiness when exposed to sweat. We wore the watch for multiple days on end and did not feel any discomfort or unease. It tends to collect sweat during rigorous workouts, but a quick swipe can take care of the situation. Regardless, we would have liked the option of a fabric strap.
There are 4 colour options on offer – Dark Grey (our unit), Light Green, Light Grey, and Orange. The Light Grey variant has a rounded frame, which is reminiscent of the Watch 2 Pro. Its silicone strap has a wavy pattern. Meanwhile, the Orange variant has time markers on the frame and tubular patterns on the strap.
The 1.43-inch AMOLED display has a 466p resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. It can reach 670 nits in High Brightness Mode, which is just enough to maintain legibility in bright outdoor conditions. The touch response offered by the AMOLED panel is smooth and satisfying. The browsing experience feels seamless. The display is big enough to view notifications and health/fitness stats. You can send quick replies with a single tap but can’t summon an on-screen keyboard.
The Watch 3 Pro is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance. It is immersible up to 1.5m in water for up to 30 minutes. However, it is not conducive to swimming. Browsing through the activity list, you’ll notice that the function set for swimming is absent. On the bright side, you don’t need to worry about any damage caused by excessive sweat or light rainfall.
CMF Watch 3 Pro Review: Performance
The CMF Watch 3 Pro requires the Nothing X app to pair with your phone. The pairing process is simple and straightforward. The smartwatch runs the same OS as its predecessor. The custom skin has Nothing’s dot matrix font and minimal design elements.
As mentioned earlier, the rotating crown is the only physical button you get on this smartwatch. Pressing it once takes you to the main menu. You can customise it to launch an app, start an exercise/health function upon a double-press. You also get a good range of customisation offers for wrist and arm gestures. The wrist rotation gesture for answering and hanging up calls found a lot of use in our daily usage.
The Watch 3 Pro does not support third-party apps. You can receive text messages on the watch and set up customised quick responses using the Nothing X app, but there is no way to browse to a third-party messaging app and initiate a conversation. The native app library includes Calculator, World Clock, Weather, Alarm, Timer, Stopwatch, and other essential apps.
The smartwatch supports 131 sport modes, but it can store only 36 at a time. It can automatically detect 7 activities, which include walking, running, cycling, elliptical machine, and rowing machine. The addition of dual-band GPS (L1 + L5) is a game-changer. You can go on a run without taking your phone and still track your route accurately. Your workout data can be synced across apps like Google Fit, Strava, and Apple Health.
The health stats recorded by the CMF Watch 3 Pro are consistent with those of the flagship-grade smartwatches on the planet. It can track your heart rate and blood oxygen in the background throughout the day. The Nothing X app provided a lucid breakdown of the data. The sleep tracker also does a fine job of recording your sleep cycle with good accuracy and breaking it down into different phases. You are assigned a score depending on the quality of sleep.
The Nothing X app is one of the finest smartwatch companion apps around. Its clean interface makes it fun to use. You can assess your health and fitness metrics with more clarity after seeing them represented on a chart. There’s a personal AI running coach in the app that can set up a personal training plan for you based on your requirements. The app also unlocks over 120 watch faces, but you can only store 7 at a time on the watch.
CMF claims that the 350mAh battery pack can last up to 13 days of regular use. We got 6 days of battery life on a full charge. This is good enough for us, since GPS tracking and AOD found ample use in our weekly routine. The magnetic charger provided with the device takes up to 1.5 hours to fully charge the battery pack.

Verdict
After using the CMF Watch 3 Pro for over a week, we can confidently say that it belongs in the upper echelon of budget and midrange smartwatches. It punches above its weight and even leaves a lot of watches in pricier categories behind to bite the dust. First and foremost, the Watch 3 Pro is a reliable health and fitness tracker. With over 130 sport modes, there is hardly an exercise or workout routine that it does not cover. The dual-band GPS does a splendid job of locking your location and tracking your runs. You don’t need to take your phone with you when you’ve got this watch strapped around your wrist.
The clean and intuitive software experience offered by the Watch 3 Pro distinguishes it from its peers. Nothing’s custom OS skin uses its signature dot matrix design and minimal aesthetics. Unlike other custom OS skins, everything feels well thought out here. The Nothing X app is the icing on the cake. Its clean UI and ease of accessibility make it the best companion app around.
