Huawei launched the GT 2 series of smartwatches last year and now they are out with its sibling in the form of Huawei Watch GT 2e. We played around with it for more than 10 days to understand what makes it tick and what makes it talk. This is our assessment of the Huawei Watch GT 2e.

Design
Well, out of the box Huawei Watch GT 2e does look a lot like the GT 2. But it does have its own distinct features. For example, it is built for the more sporty younger generation who are always up to something outdoorsy. The band is two-tone and is made of rubber silicone that does make it a good companion if you are hitting the gym or are going for a run. The perforations on the strap make it more breathable and sweat will not stick around for long on it. The silver metal dial comes back on the Huawei Watch GT 2e, however this time it is a seamless experience between the crown and the glass. 2 buttons for power on/off and feature settings can also be found on the steel façade.
You do get a large 1.39-inch AMOLED touch screen on the Huawei Watch GT 2e, same as its sibling. Will talk more about it in the performance section. At the back, you get the charging points around the heart rate as well as SpO2 (blood oxygen saturation) monitor. Both of which, by the way, are quite accurate. All in all, in the looks and design department the Huawei Watch GT 2e does a brilliant job. Yes, it is slightly heavier than the regular smartwatches’ you get these days, but those do not provide you with the extra-long battery life as this one does.
Performance
First, let us quickly talk about the tech specs of the Huawei Watch GT 2e. It comes with a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with touch and gesture controls. It comes with 4GB of internal memory, a Kirin A1 CPU and the battery can last for 14 days. Bluetooth V5.1 is supported, which makes it easier to operate with the latest smartphones at better speeds. Talking about which you can download the Huawei Health app on your smartphone to operate many of its features including the watch faces. This we loved, as the library of watch faces is very large, and one can have fun with a new watch face every day.
Over that, the Huawei Watch GT 2e is 5ATM water-resistant. That means is it water-resistant in up to 50 meters of water. You can take out for a swim in the pool or in the ocean and nothing will happen to it. There are over 80 work out modes supported by Huawei Watch GT 2e including climbing, cycling, running, triathlons, hiking, swimming and more. Does not matter which sport you are training for this watch has a training mode for you. We took it out for a run, and it was very accurate. 9 out of 10 times we got correct data from it.
Huawei Watch GT 2e smartwatch has a sleep monitor too. It is a great feature to own to track your sleep patterns on the Huawei app and it gives you suggestions for better sleep as well. We for one didn’t use it a lot as the watch is a bit too bulky for us to sleep with. But for some, it might be good. Overall, we found the performance of the Huawei Watch GT 2e to be quite accurate and the large and bright touchscreen makes it somewhat of an eye candy. You can change the straps also, but it is a bit of a task to switch them.
Verdict
All in all, at Rs 11,990 the Huawei Watch GT 2e is a steal. It has a lot of features going for it and one just cannot get over the long 14-day battery life. No matter how you use it, you end up getting more than 11 days at least. Users can also take snapshots or control music via this smartwatch and connected Huawei smartphone. In India, it is available in 2 colours Blue and the Green (the one we reviewed). Must say our heart is set on the green colour.
