The second Developer Beta versions of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 were rolled out by Apple earlier this week. The latest update brings new features like RCS messaging, screen sharing/mirroring, and remote control to the respective devices. While Facetime already allows users to share the screen to watch videos together, the new update makes some important additions to this feature. So, let’s take a look at how you can share and control your iPhone’s screen with an iPad using SharePlay Remote.

About SharePlay Remote Control

The SharePlay Remote Control is a brilliant addition to Facetime on the new iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. To begin with, you can now make annotations on the shared screen before even taking over control of the device. These annotations can be used to guide the user through a particular task on their device. Dragging your finger or Apple Pencil along the screen creates the annotations. The figures you create disappear after a few seconds of inactivity.

Once you take control of the other device, you can open apps, change settings, and carry out all sorts of tasks on it. This is very useful if you have elderly parents who find it hard to navigate their iPhones. By taking control of their devices, you can make the changes they want.
