Airtel is offering free calling and data benefits in Assam’s flood affected areas

Airtel will be offering free services to prepaid as well as postpaid customers.

Telecom major Bharti Airtel has today said that it will be contributing to the flood relief efforts in Assam by offering free calling and data benefits to its customers in 30 districts across the state.

The company, which claims to be the largest integrated telecommunications services provider in India, will be offering its customers in the affected districts with a free credit of talk time along with 100MB to 5GB data in their accounts along with extended validity. This will ensure that people remain connected to their loved ones and can stay online.

For postpaid customers in the region, the dates of bill payment have been extended.

It is worth mentioning that Airtel is one among the leading mobile operators in Assam and the company has said that its teams are working overtime to ensure that the network connectivity is normal across flood-affected areas. This would prove to be very beneficial for the people of Assam, as usually, at the time of natural disasters, people sometimes cannot get help because of bad connectivity.

Speaking on this, Mr. Sovan Mukherjee, COO – North East & Assam, Bharti Airtel said: “As one of Assam’s leading mobile operators and a responsible corporate citizen, we have taken this initiative to support the efforts of the government and the administration and ensure that citizens continue to stay connected in the time of this natural calamity.”

In an unrelated piece of news, Airtel had recently announced some new benefits under its #AirtelThanks. Now, the postpaid and the prepaid mobile customers of Airtel can set their favourite songs as their Hello Tunes for free using the Wynk Music app. In fact, the eligible customers will be getting the choice of picking any of the 40 million songs that are a part of Wynk Music’s library.

The customers can use a number of songs from Wynk Music as their Hello Tune and for doing this, they do not have to pay a monthly subscription of Rs 36. But then, we should mention that to be eligible for this offer, customers need to have prepaid or postpaid bundles worth at least Rs 129. Those who have plans that are above Rs 129 will also be able to use songs from the collection on Wynk Music app as ringback tones. All you need for free ringback tones is an Airtel pack worth Rs 129 and Wynk Music app, that is available on App Store as well as Play Store.
