Amazon has unveiled the Fire HD 8 tablet, which has an 8-inch HD display with generative AI capabilities. The tablet boasts 50% more RAM than its predecessor, resulting in better performance and camera quality. It is available in three models: Fire HD 8, Fire HD 8 Kids, and Fire HD 8 Kids Pro, the latter two of which are designed specifically for children. The tablet enables web page summarization with the Silk browser.

The Fire HD 8 series has a 5MP rear-facing camera for high-quality photographs and movies, a lightweight, portable design, and an 8-inch HD display built of strengthened aluminosilicate glass. It has a Hexa-core CPU that runs at 2.0GHz. The Fire HD 8 series includes 50% more RAM for faster streaming, gaming, surfing, and downloading images and movies. This improves performance for your favourite entertainment applications, such as Prime Video, Audible, and Kindle. The Amazon Fire HD 8 includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be upgraded to up to 1TB with a microSD card.

Amazon has added generative AI-powered capabilities to compatible Fire tablets, hoping to boost productivity and creativity. These new capabilities will be available on the Fire HD 8 tablets as well as the whole Fire tablet series.

The tablet also includes a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet boasts up to 13 hours of battery life on a single charge. It has generative AI, and a writing assistant, and is compatible with a variety of apps, including email, Microsoft Word documents, and social networking. Additionally, it provides web page summarization using the Silk browser.

The tablet has a new Wallpaper Creator, which allows users to customise their wallpapers with generative AI, curated prompts, or personal inputs.

Amazon has announced two kid-friendly tablets, the Fire HD 8 Kids and the Fire HD 8 Kids Pro, which are aimed at children aged three to seven and six to twelve, respectively. These tablets include more RAM for greater performance and a sleek cover for better protection. They also include a two-year worry-free guarantee, assuring a stress-free experience for children with Amazon Kids+ memberships.

Pricing and Availability

Fire HD 8 is available in Black, Hibiscus, or Emerald. Fire HD 8 Kids and Fire HD 8 Kids Pro come with a sturdy, kid-proof case available in a variety of fun designs, including exclusive Disney cases: Disney Pixar Cars, Disney Princess, or Marvel Avengers. The base pricing of the Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet is $54.99 for the 32GB storage variant. There is also a 64GB version available for $84.99. The e-commerce portal, however, states that this is only the promotional price, good through October 9. After that, it will be increased to $99.99 and $129.99 for the two versions, respectively.
