Amazon Prime Video introduces Watch Party feature in India

This feature enables 100 participants to watch video content together at the same time.

What can be more fun than watching your favourite shows online with your loved ones that too without sharing the popcorn? Amazon Prime Video has now introduced its Watch Party feature to its fans in India. Watch Parties are available on desktop browsers, except Apple’s Safari. Other devices such as Fire TV, smart TVs, game consoles, connected media players, mobile phones, and tablets are currently not supported.

Earlier Amazon Prime Video had launched this feature of Watch Party in the US. What’s interesting is that this feature enables 100 participants to watch video content together at the same time while sharing messages via a built-in chat feature.

Amazon Prime Video subscriber will now be able to select what to be played during Watch Party from thousands of titles available in the Prime Video’s SVOD catalogue comprising of Amazon Originals Mirzapur, Inside Edge, Panchayat, Hostel Daze, Gulabo Sitabo and many others.

In order to start Watch Party, one needs to follow the below given steps:

  1. Find a movie or TV show

Click on the Watch Party icon on your screen for movies. You’ll find it in the episode list for TV shows.

  1. Enter your name

Choose the name you’d like to use while chatting. Create your Watch Party.

  1. Invite your friends

Share your Watch Party link with up to 100 people. Your friends can join by clicking on their link.

  1. Start watching and chatting!

Once everyone is ready, start your Watch Party. The host can play, pause, skip, and seek for the group.

Recently, Amazon.in has also rolled out ‘Made-in-India toy store’ that will give platform to sellers from 15 Indian states to showcase more than thousands of unique toys across ‘toy-categories’ like traditional toys, handmade toys and educational toys. The aim behind this is to bring all forms of Indian crafts online.

According to Amazon India, The launch of Made-in-India toy store will provide a support to local emerging Indian brands and manufacturers to further expand their business. It must be noted that the rolling out of this toy store is in line with Government of India’s vision in realising the potential of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

In addition to this, Amazon further added that the traditional Indian toys section showcases toys that are bound to take consumers down the memory lane, reminiscent of carefree childhood nostalgia with toys like Chowka Bara, Pitthu/Lagori, Lattu(Wooden spinning tops) and more. The handmade toys section will showcase handmade toys & dolls from karigars of various states like Channapatna, Thanjavur, Varanasi to name a few. It must also be noted that these handmade toys speak of the pride in Indian craftsmanship and are unique in design. The third category showcases innovative and educational toys like a DIY Microscope, 4D Educational AR Game, Science Experiment Kits as well as other interesting things.
