Apple is making a major push towards renewable energy in India with a new collaboration with CleanMax, with an initial investment of INR 100 crore. The partnership will generate more than 150 megawatts of renewable energy capacity, which can provide power to almost 150,000 Indian homes annually. The move is part of Apple’s wider plan to accelerate renewable energy activity in its supply chain throughout India. Apple and CleanMax have partnered before, and not for the first time, on rooftop solar projects that allow Apple to power its offices and retail stores around the nation with 100 per cent renewable energy.
Apple has collaborated with WWF-India to enhance recycling and waste management measures, with a particular emphasis on environmental and social safeguards. The project is especially active in places like Coimbatore, where it partners with local authorities and people to address plastic pollution via improved sorting and recovery techniques.
