Apple is apparently working on two foldable devices: a larger model with a 19-inch screen that may compete with desktop displays, and a smaller foldable iPhone with a larger screen than the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The company has spent years creating both gadgets, with the foldable iPhone expected to be available first. The corporation expects to begin in 2026, but this could be pushed back by a year.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple’s first foldable iPhone will have a screen that folds inward and measures at least 7 inches across. This is bigger than the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s 6.9-inch screen. Apple eventually opted on an inward folding screen, akin to Samsung’s Galaxy Z series handsets, after experimenting with outward folding screens, which are comparable to Huawei’s foldable phones.

Apple is working to overcome obstacles with hinge and display cover concerns in order to offer a foldable device in 2026. The firm might, however, put off resolving these problems for another year. According to Bloomberg, Apple is also developing a larger device that resembles a laptop and has a 19-inch display. Originally, this gadget was supposed to be released first. These days, Apple prefers to release the foldable iPhone first.
Apple is working on a very thin iPhone 17 model in addition to developing two new foldable devices for 2026. According to credible reports, Apple intends to release a slimmer iPhone model next year with the goal of making it less expensive than Pro models and incorporating a more basic camera system. Despite some shortcomings, Apple’s iPhone 17 Air will offer a more streamlined choice for those looking for an aesthetically pleasing ultra-thin form factor.

“Starting next year, Apple plans to introduce an iPhone that will be thinner than the approximately 8-millimeter profile of current models, said people familiar with the company’s plans. The model is intended to be cheaper than Pro models, with a simplified camera system to reduce costs,” the Wall Street Journal’s report stated.
