Apple has launched a new monthly payment option for annual subscriptions on the App Store, allowing consumers to pay on a monthly basis while committing to a one-year membership. The major goal of this program is to provide pricing options for users while also providing a consistent income stream for developers. It is worth noting that even if consumers cancel their membership, they will still be accountable for commitment payments. However, the rollout of this payment scheme is expected to exclude consumers in the United States and Singapore for undisclosed reasons.
Apple has added a new payment option for auto-renewable subscriptions accessible on the App Store. The option is offered with a monthly subscription plan that needs the user to sign up for a period of 12 months. It is supposed to launch this payment model to provide consumers with less expensive alternatives to manage membership expenses.

The company in its announcement said, “Today, we’re introducing a new way that people can pay for your auto-renewable subscriptions on the App Store: monthly subscriptions with a 12-month commitment. This new payment option allows you to offer subscribers more affordable options. People can cancel their subscription at any time, which will prevent the subscription from renewing after they’ve completed their agreed-to payments to fulfill their commitment.”
Most importantly, subscribers are free to terminate their subscriptions at any time, discontinuing the renewal process once they have fulfilled their original payment commitment they agreed to.

Users can see their subscription payment status, including both completed and ongoing payments, immediately in their Apple Account, promoting transparency over financial commitments. In addition, Apple has taken the initiative to notify consumers by sending them email alerts and, for opted-in users, push notifications to notify them of upcoming renewal dates for their subscriptions. This assists users to keep themselves fully aware of the purchases they are going to make and plan and manage their finances accordingly.
With App Store Connect you can now set up monthly subscriptions with a 12-month commitment and test them in Xcode. These subscriptions will be available globally, with the exception of the U.S. and Singapore markets.
